At least in that case they told us ahead of time and you can choose not to buy the game. If a game that you enjoy gets a "woke update" that significantly alters the game you purchased in a way you hate, then we have a problem.

Man, it would be great to see Scorpion baring his chest, right? Maybe tone down those long, baggy trousers and get those rippling thighs into shot? Get some crotch physics on display?

Or, wait. Is it only the women we're allowed to sexualise because gaming remains a male dominant industry? And why is it male dominant?

I didn't defeat a single horde! After three attempts at each horde in the main storyline, the game offered to just let me skip it. I decided that hordes were not at all enjoyable for me, so I unashamedly took the offer. I really enjoyed the rest of the game. I finished the main story but not all of the side quests. My favourite bits were taking out ambush camps silently. Ninja St John!

That's interesting. I wonder why I was never offered that option?

Couldn't agree more - an absolute masterpiece. Multiple endings too, and some of the puzzles are genius - in that they feel complex and impossible and then suddenly when you get it, it's a "duh" moment and it's all so simple.

Anti-cheat is generally so ineffective that I just don't play competitive games any more. You still occasionally see cheating in co-op games, but it's quite rare, at least compared to competitive. Cheating is so prevalent on every competitive game I've played that I've completely lost interest in it.

PvE all the way for me now.

They haven't been Windows-only since. You can literally 'apt install dwarf-fortress' to play it. Pretty sure the only reason they brought it to Steam was to get some funding so they could develop it full time, make it easier to include a bunch of stuff out of the box, and to get more of the 'normies' to play it. I did find it kind of odd they didn't include Linux support initially in the Steam release, not sure of the story behind that. But you can totally still install it (at least under Debian, I haven't checked other distros yet).

The version in the Debian repos at least is 0.47 - which is the last version before they went Windows-only.

Well, just tried this, and it's pretty damn excellent. Picked up Diablo for £6 on GOG, used Innoextract to grab the files (as per the installation instructions), shove the resulting 6 files into your .local/share/diasurgical/sevilution folder and away you go.

Also, big shout out for Defender's Quest 2 [External Link]. Sadly, the demo is Windows only, but the developer did do native for the first, so I have high hopes.
