Full disclosure: Someone bought Skyrim for me as a gift. It just happens to work well with Wine. :P

"Put down those old Windows games, for a moment"

Hah!

Who else has been going through the free-to-play games, seeing what works? :D

Valve have now pushed out all the recent beta changes in Steam Play's Proton to everyone

I love Proton! I really hope the developers are able to see how many Linux users are enjoying Proton. Yay, Skyrim and Neverwinter (the MMO- yes, NWN Enhanced is amazing, as well, but it works native, which is great, but that's not what this conversation is about, so...)!

I have also started checking out the free to play games that I couldn't play before. Path Of Exile is pretty damn cool, if you're into MMORPG-types. It has a very Diabloesque look and feel to it.

Valve may be adding support for using compatibility tools for playing games on different operating systems

I am all about native Linux games, but I have to admit that there are more than a few games in my collection that I run from Wine. I understand that it goes against the idea that companies won't care to make native Linux games if people are willing to run them using Wine, but the reality is, those games are simply not going to get ported and dammit, I want to play them.

That being said, I am looking forward to simply making a couple of clicks, rather than jumping through hoops, to play games like Diablo 3, Skyrim, Dungeons & Dragons Online, etc. (actually, Skyrim was a pretty easy install, compared to the others mentioned, but still).

I welcome our non-emulator to the Steam fray, if that is what is happening.

Saving this for later (at work, now)! I can't wait to check it out!

Total War: WARHAMMER II confirmed for Linux, to release later this year

I'm probably the only person in the world who still plays Dungeons & Dragons Online (using Wine, of course). It would be awesome to see this come native, but since I'm the only one who gets into this one, I will probably have to stick to the Wine version. :(

Still- I absolutely agree, there needs to be more ports of RPGs and open world stuff. :)

The former Linux dev lead from Feral Interactive has moved to Unity

Hey! Maybe there will be a fix on the first Torchlight where we can see the character's faces :D It would also be nice to get this one on Steam. I have both of them, but the first Torchlight is off in its own folder while its sequel is in Steam.

Seriously, though, I think this is an amazing move for exactly the reasons mentioned in the article. As long as Feral continues doing what they do, this is nothing but good news!

Retro-inspired arcade racer Slipstream to release May 21st, developed on Linux

I'm not sure where I might be able to put this out there, but if there is ever a game developer who would like their music also created in Linux, I do all my recordings in Ardour 5 (currently). I am definitely interested in creating gaming scores/soundtracks and can provide links for examples, if you message me.
