Instabuy as soon as it's released. I didn't expect a day 2 release!

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLNice but why they raised the price? Before stock price 19.99$, lowest price on sale 14.99$, until 30 January 2018 when price raised to 29.99$ :/ It is now on sale -25% and cost 22.49$ but this is still bad for us :/
This is common among early access games. You pay X to play the game early accepting the bugs and missing features only for them to be fixed/added eventually (hopefully). When the developers feel their game is complete enough to leave early access they often increase the price to be more in-line with what they view their "finished" product is worth, hence why it's often priced higher. The same can be seen with Rust.

Not defending the practice, just trying to explain the logic at play.

The SMACH Z gaming handheld has switched to AMD Ryzen & Vega, pre-orders start soon

Quoting: slaapliedjeNot sure why they wouldn't just throw SteamOS on it. If I recall the earlier articles said that would be the case (at least if you chose the Linux option).
Vega is the reason. As of right now SteamOS ships with 4.14 still. Vega needs a newer kernel (4.15) and would benefit from a newer release of mesa than what SteamOS provides, at least currently.

Rise of the Tomb Raider announced for Linux, port from Feral Interactive

Quoting: sbolokanovAfter the usual update of gcc/glibc and Steam stopping running (no 32bit support), I can say that I'm off with this.

After being fed up with this on Fedora using mesa-git, Solus' Linux Steam Integration helps out a lot. Though it won't help with your other issues.

Some thoughts on Man O' War: Corsair, rough sailing and very little fun

Quoting: g000hSlightly off-topic, the pirate game "Tempest" did have Linux betas available, but presumably because they broke the Linux Builds, the Linux betas are no longer available on Steam. The annoying thing is, I own the game and cannot play it - No Linux build available and even if it were available, probably non-working too.

Wish they'd hurry up and fix it.

I had a go with Sid Meier's Pirates Gold (steam, linux ~ dosbox) a few weeks ago. It was a pretty clunky experience for me. There were two emulator choices (Dosbox A, Dosbox B) and they both ran at bad frame-rates, but one was worse than the other.
I also own tempest. It is a shame on their part for the Linux issues. The "remastered" version of Pirates! is much better in my opinion of course. Link [External Link]

Quoting: webcreatureOne of the classics everybody knows is Sid Meyer's Pirates. It had factions that felt almost all the same. It had simplyfied sail mechanics, boarding fights, where one capains fight represented the whole crew, it had treasure hunt and fights for cities. It was great! I still have fond memories of that game!
ManO'war corsair is a modern Pirates for me. It has shortcomings, true, but I really like it. It gives me the same feeling Pirates did.
Good to hear. As a fellow lover of Pirate games I'm always on the lookout for some good ones. I really wish Sea Of Thieves would support Linux (ha, microsoft). I'm actively following the New Horizons remastered project (I requested the Linux build from them) and can't wait for that game to come to fruition so I can relive the 2003 POTC experience as that is probably my favourite pirate game of all time next to Assassin's creed Black Flag (with all of the Assassin's creed parts torn out). I plan to give Assassin's Creed a go in Wine as it has Gold/Silver ratings on WineHQ.

Can you hear that? It's the Steam sales train and it's arrived, also Steam Wishlist revamp

No one can say this Linux gamer doesn't buy games. Snagged Victor Vran, Superhot (I already owned the VR version), The Last Leviathan, Poly Ball, Can't drive this, Immortal Redneck, and Yooka-Laylee. I was about the pull the trigger on cities skyline, but I'm unsure if I have the time required to really sink into that game (or if I'd ever really be in the mood to play).

Islands of Nyne is one Battle Royale game that might get a Linux version in future

Unreal Engine 4
It would be hilarious if this game lands on Linux using UE4 while that other battle royale game that uses UE + battleye sits with no support from the people that make the engine.

Quoting: [email protected]Battlechasers was also published by THQ Nordic although developed by Airship Syndicate.

I hope they get Metro Exodus out for Linux too.
Considering we got the original games + the remasters I really hope this is the case. I fired up Last Light Redux last night and was amazed at how far MESA has come with that game. 60+ FPS maxed out at 3440x1440.

Still hoping, praying, and begging for the darksiders games to eventually make their way to Linux. The remastered versions plus Darksiders 3? That's my dream.

I find them disappointing too. Max 8GB RAM, horrible 6bpc(yes, 6 bit per color) displays, always on fans, ...
I recently needed a new laptop but sadly none of the Ryzen ones were even remotely an option.
Okay so you pointed out ONE laptop, not the lineup, of which the majority hasn't launched.

1) RAM is upgradable on some (up to the manufacturers)
2) Display is up to the manufactures
3) Thermal design is " "

So the HP laptop isn't up to snuff for you, and that's fine. Better ones are on the horizon. Doesn't mean AMD's chips are disappointing.
