I bought it with all the DLC's as was hoping it would come to linux one day thanks to the SteamOS announcement where it showed Civ 5 being played on the steamos machine.
Pandora as well, coming to us at the end of May.

Well I have around 540 games of which 220 are Linux.
How many have I really played thoroughly? Not that many...
Most of mine come from bundles...
Even if no more Linux games not produced anymore, and the current trend to show the opposite, I could probably game on Linux for several years with ones I have already...

Are More AAA Games Waiting For Steam Machines?

That leaves digital outlets such as Amazon, GOG, the Humble Store, GreenMan Games, Slitherine and a plethora of other smaller outlets.
So I guess yes, if Steam fails to get SteamOS off the ground, we are pretty screwed in the hope of getting mainstream gaming, but we will still get indies so all is not lost.

Quoting: BeamboomWell, most PC games are now played via 2 platforms, which also double up as digital shops:Steam or Desura. Windows Games Live is dead (Yeah!), GameSpy will be D.E.A.D by the end of May, and EA Origin store is a bit of a joke. Some may say that to succeed you need to be on Steam. Some isolated cases like Mojang actually go against this juncture, but as I said games like Minecraft are the exceptions which prove the rule, as we say in France.Quoting: ImantsWe do not have anything else to put our trust into. So if Valve fails our dreams fails with it :)It's the truth.

Are More AAA Games Waiting For Steam Machines?

Finally, to the person who was wondering what makes an AAA title, I would say that Skyrim and (Frontiers [External Link] illustrate the different approaches brilliantly. Skyrim is a massive enterprise, that had the backing of a small army of developers and artists. The result is a game with polish (A few laughs from the assembly as a few bugs come to mind), with good voice acting, a good graphics engine, unique art assets and a powerful narrative. Frontiers on the other hand is the work of 2 individuals, featuring a large open world, which has been procedurally generated, art assets that have been bought from a store, no voice acting, no . The man hours put into the game are probably only a fraction of what has gone into Skyrim.
you would say, then why bother to play Frontiers? Why not stick to Skyrim. In my view, Skyrim is great...yet there is something missing. It all feels really rehearsed, there is a feeling of deja vu, if you have played the other Elder Scrolls Games. Frontiers on the other hand, really tries to be different, and that is why I will probably enjoy playing it. AAA studios don't like to bring out games that are slightly out of the norm, as the ROI is not assured. COD12 will be released, but like the recent iPhones and Galaxies, they will only be iterations of previous games. Indie games fill that niche area of experimental games. The danger of course is that Indies sometimes get carried away by their ambitions, and the games lose focus. I still marvel at the mad ideas that have been floated around and have actually been put into a game.
Here is a good development blog from an indie perspective that I recommend you follow: Clockwork Empire [External Link]
Edit - wow, it really reads like the ramblings of an old drunkard, but I swear I have not had a drop of alcohol. I am just really tired after a long dauy at work. Time for me to play I guess.

Quoting: edgleyFirst off, sorry about that, M&B is NOT an AAA game, I just got carried away...that game is so epic that I oftne think of it as an AAA title. M&B 2 isn't even being considered for Linux so I think it is quite fair to say that it will never grace our platform...Quoting: jdubSince when is M&B AAA?Have they even speculated on porting it?
Quoting: Anonymous@OZSeaford Witcher2 was lately pulled off steam for linux again - no linux support and no content download anymore.Oh no! Still, let's not dismiss the idea completely, they may have needed to replace the image? I don't really know how it works...

I hope that Steam dream will carry on too, but even if it fails then we will still have the indie game scene to cater for our gaming needs.

Voted!
Seriously, this is going to blow most of the other racing games out of the water all platforms included.
I am still going to remain faithful to the great Little Street Cars, which is another genre, and to the TORC franchise...

How sad!

“Et tu, Brute?”

Hamlet:
I did love you once.
Ophelia:
Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so.
Hamlet:
You should not have believ'd me, for virtue cannot so
inoculate our old stock but we shall relish of it. I lov'd you not.
Ophelia:
I was the more deceiv'd.
One of the products I was waiting for with anticipation, trepidation and awe.
I was imagining that I would one day be able to immerse myself completely in fantastic digital worlds like never before, a sort of oracle on the verge of . But no, I shall be logging into FB to play Farmville 3D.
Pffff
PS - am really sorry for the people who invested in the Occulus kickstarter, just feeding the giant, as if FB needed cash. Interesting to note that as far as I am aware FaceBook did not even kickstart it, so much for their interest in seed companies.

GOG.com Are Going To Support Linux, Confirmed!

F.I.N.A.L.L.Y.!
I had stopped buying games on GOG (I have a back catalogue there of nearly 70 games) when my focus was to buy games on Linux platform only, and shifted towards the Humble Store. However, GOG is still the reference for DRM free oldy games, and I was missing a bit on that piece of action.
I am glad that GOG have decided to support another platform.
I do not expect them to make all games available, but at least the SCUMM VM and Dosbox games should be fairly easy to package. Also, the recent indie games nearly all have a Linux version.
Now, we can only wait for Windows Live to offer a Linux option... OH wait... Windows Live is dead....

Nuclear Dawn Will No Longer Be Worked On
21 Feb 2014 at 3:34 pm UTC
It is a shame as Nuclear Dawn was a good alternative to Natural Selection and Tremulous.
I also do hope that someone will try to get this game on track again.
21 Feb 2014 at 3:34 pm UTC
The main reason it lacked people was that it was that there was no cross-platform multiplayer. Unless there were a few linux beta testers online, you had the whole server to yourself. And the bots were not very smart.Aaah finally I understand why I could see that there were 2 or 3 servers open, but I could not join them...
I really hope someone will pick up the port and continue its development...

Well I did fork out some money for that game, disappointed that I only managed to join a server once.
The UI was ok, the concept was good, and it was really pretty.
Oh well I suppose some of these "investments" do not pan out.
