XCOM: Enemy Unknown Looks Set To Hit Linux
21 Nov 2013 at 2:00 pm UTC

Now I wonder who will come firt? XCOM Ennemy Unknown or Xenaunauts? Xenaunauts has been announced for our platform for at least a year now, but still no sign of the port.

If you want to play a nice open source spin-off of xcom, I suggest you try UFO: Alien Invasion: http://ufoai.org/wiki/News [External Link]. It is a bit buggy but excellent fun.

I'm interested in the multiplayer elements to this game. I looked up their website, and it talks about 6 multiplayer maps. Quite intriguing. This could do with a coop mode as well.

MouseCraft A Tetris & Lemmings Remix Released On Steam

A game of Cat and Mouse. There is kind of a sadistic element to it though, which makes me more uneasy than Machine for Pigs...

PixelJunk Shooter Released On Steam

Local Coop is cool, but I have no-one to play with :(. Unless of course that is another word for LAN? In which case I recommend Haguichi [External Link] a graphical front end for Hamashi, which enables you to play LAN over the net.

Humble Finally Launches The Humble Store

The Charities on the Humble Bundle are very American...but the panel is larger than the one we are usually aware of: Humble Bundle Charities [External Link]. $26 million to charity: Kudos to them. I wish I could choose which charities to give to. Say 90% to Water, but only 0.5% to the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America? I mean, wow, a charity for fantasy writers? Come on!

Anyhoot, they will release all their back catalog to the store, of that I am sure.

Loooking forward to some form of Christmas sales at Desura, as my wallet is kinda feeling the pinch right now, with all these games coming out. I actually have 142 linux games on Steam, c.60 on Desura, and 55 games on my wishlist.

Now my question is, when do I get the frickin time to play all this!!! I never thought it would get to this...

This game looks quite nice, and could easily be ported on mobile devices...I would need to know a bit more about the scenario. Having just finished Thomas was Alone, I really strive for a good story nowadays...

Edit - pressed send before it was ready.

Oh dear, was playing Star Command on my phone, and thought fondly about my time with FTL. Will be playing tonight.

@OZSeaford - I've just upgraded from a GTX460 to a GTX660 and I'm seeing an improvement in fps of between 30% and 50% in the games I've tried. Unigine Heaven went from 27 to 40 fps at 1680 x 1050.

Well that is fantastic news. I can't even begin to imagine what it will do from my current GeForce 8600 GT (which was more than sufficient for all my Linux games up to now) to the GTX660 if you are experiencing 30/50% increase from just a 2 generation difference.

Wait and see. I know that TellTales were not keen to support Android, so even thinking of linux is good news.

Metro: Last Light Released for Linux on Steam

Ok, that's it, I need to update my graphics card! I put it off until now, to be honest, my 7 year old card was perfectly sufficient until now for all my gaming needs, but I guess I have to invest in a newer card, maybe an Nvidia GTX660.

I put it as a favourite for now, but am sure to get Metro before the end of the month.

Compared to a lot of FPSs out there, this one is based on a novel, and has a real story.
