Valve launches Deck Verified, to show off what games will work well on the Steam Deck
19 Oct 2021 at 8:17 am UTC

Hmmm, optimistically if they have 20 people each checking 20 games a day, that's 400 games per day, more or less 8000 per month. They won't even be halfway through by launch.

Close steam, install something under lutris, start lutris2steam.sh.
For every installed lutris game, it will ask you if you want to add the game to steam; makes sense if you want to do an initial copy; for the subsequent ones, it is more convenient to use stl instead.
"Lutris" is prepended to the game name so that one can filter it in the steam library search box.
/usr/share/icons/lutris.png is selected as a generic icon for every game.

Nice! I was busy making a little Steam Deck helper app for newbies that could probably include this as functionality if the add non-steam game bit were stripped out of stl into its own script. Basically it's just an app with a web front end that can be used with Steam's upcoming "bookmarks" feature. It talks to a simple node server and a bunch of bash scripts as the back end. I'll probably post the thing on gitlab/hub at some point once I've removed some dependencies and clarified the purpose of the thing a bit better.

Wait, is there now an easy "Add to Steam" option, or does one still need to go through the process of manually adding a non-Steam app from within Steam?

EDIT: Nope, it's still this whole spiel.

1. Make sure you're in Steam Desktop mode (not Big Picture Mode)
2. Select Games -> Add a non-Steam game to my Library
3. Click Browse, filter by file type of All Files, and the find the executable of lutris
4. Right click on the new "lutris" shortcut and select Properties
5. Rename the title to the name of the game you would like to add. For example: SuperTux
6. Set the launch options to lutris:rungame/supertux, where supertux is the slug of the game, found in the URL of the game on the Lutris website
7. Add an icon from either Steam Banners or TheGamesDB
A pity. This can be a one-click thing.

Sure, but 8 of those are from anti-cheat. I would be really surprised if Valve were unable to persuade those people to enable their anticheat to work with Proton.
I don't think Valve holds as much persuasive power as one would imagine. I suspect not many of these developers are going to bother at all.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online actually works with regular Proton also, you just need to do the two cfg file changes yourself. However, in both cases it only works by enabling the legacy launcher, with the possibility of Square pulling the plug on that at any moment looming overhead like the sword of Damocles.

Trust me when I say this, its not really just a click on a button. Iv say this from experience as a software developer.
No devs dont care about linux, they care about making money. This is just a step for epic to futureproof themselves. Valve dont really care about linux at all eather. But linux is something that works great for valves ideology, invent tools that passionate people will do all the work with. The only thing valve care about is selling games, hardware and make there client futureproof. Windows is a threat for any game client, and valve is very aware of this. Windows store will probably be even harder to not use in windows 11.

Sry for sounding so negative, but Im really tired of hearing, its just a click on a button.
And this is great news :).
Well it sounds like the "few clicks" is to activate it through their admin portal, so yeah it is just a few clicks on a web site.
