VKD3D-Proton works towards Ray Tracing, new small Proton Experimental build up

I have also found that the install script does not seem to work right, so I have just been copying the dx12.dll to the place where the game exe lives.
If you want to wait. I don't think it'll be too long before this makes its way into Proton Experimental even though the implementation is very bare bones. So far I have only gotten it to work with Control.

Quoting: SirBubblesYou don't need a whole new Proton, just an updated vkd3d-proton, which you can get from https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton [External Link] and following the instructions on how to compile it.Quoting: rustybroomhandleRemember, for now you have to actually set VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr for it to work.I would love to know how exactly one grabs this version of Proton. Otherwise, how long does one think the wait might be?

Quoting: edenistI really wish valve would release a steam-link program for linux. Not full blown steam, just a client that I can run on a lite-laptop that will stream from my big box.I'm confused, isn't this what Steam Link is?

Solike. I bought a property many years ago. It was huge, and had aviaries and koi ponds in the back yard. It was cheap because it was a dodgy area.
Anyway, the koi ponds were empty, except for one lone solitary fish. Wife and I named him Napoleon and decided to set him free among his own people. The only place we knew of that had koi was the public park in the city which was 2 hours drive away.
So we scooped Napoleon into a pot and drove him all the way there. The moment after I dropped him into the water, a security guard was like, "Hey! What are you doing!!!??" So I just pretended to take some litter out of the water. He did not ask about the pot.
It was hilarious, but um, I guess you had to have been there.
Koi story over, thanks bye.

Take-Two Interactive hit the DMCA nuke on GTA III and Vice City reverse engineered effort

This is a weird one. I might be talking out my ass here, but DMCA is for copyright, and as far as I know, reverse engineered efforts like this usually do not use any of the original code and you still need to buy the original game for the assets. So it does not violate any copyright.

Quoting: GuestChill out dude/dudette.You are still being useless troll.
I will quote myself also:
Quoting: rustybroomhandle"When Proton does get marketed to developers it will be in the form of a feature complete build target. ie "Here, support this, ktnx"
Quoting: rustybroomhandleI also said that Valve would probably present it as a solution to developers once it's in a complete enough state. I have no feelings about this either way. These two quotes of mine say the same thing. You literally made 0 argument and have not answered my question asking how Microsoft takes control away from a Linux user that plays Windows games using Proton.

Mirv. Learn to read.
I never declared proton "the way forward for Linux gaming". I said it removes a barrier to entry for new users.
I also said that Valve would probably present it as a solution to developers once it's in a complete enough state. I have no feelings about this either way.
At no point in this did I say devs should just support Proton.
You are trying to put words in my mouth and you are coming off as the worst kind of troll. Not worth speaking to. Chill pill my ass.
