Quoting: PenglingI disagree here. I think the service provider (Roblox) is best equipped to to supervise what happens in the communal spaces they built and they have an obligation (not legally though 🤬) to spend more of their precious profits on platform safety.Quoting: elmapulthe sex offenders is the biggest issue, but this is a problem in any online experience , i dont know about an solution that dont require parents monitoring what their kids are doing and only allowing then to play online when they are arround.Supervision and education really are the only things that can be done here.
Discord Overlay for Linux v0.7.0 should improve idling and on battery power

I'm curious how others in our community use this? Do you add it to the Discord .desktop file as an extra command? Do you map a desktop environment level hotkey to launch Discover? Something else?
I always forget it exists, since I rarely happen to play/voicechat with people I don't already know for years or decades.

Quoting: Joeg1484Does anyone have their Valve Index even working in Linux these days? I cant get it to run anything. Used to work - I played completely though Alyx on Linux a couple of times, but then gave it up for a couple months last year and just started to get back into it and nothing works.I recently got the Index and on Ubuntu 23.10 things mostly work. Some games work out of the box (via Proton) (e.g. Google Earth VR; Budget Cuts; Acron; Supehot; Groove Gunner), some needed tinkering (e.g. HL: Alyx;), a few needed me to run an older version of the app (from Betas tab on Steam Properties) (e.g. Elven Assassin; Beat Saber), and some I haven't gotten running yet (e.g. RR Raceroom).
I can install it... set up the room... but after I install ANY game and click play in my headset, it just goes right back to the play button. Nothing in /tmp for dumps, just doesnt work. I even tried the Proton version... Same!
I get errors trying to load the room.. All I can see is the wireframe "Room" and thats it LOL.
Spec Ops: The Line gets delisted on Steam - you can still buy it elsewhere for now

For anyone who cares: Roblox is systematically abusive to children:

I don't know what would be better - for Blender to accept their money or to refuse the very light good PR that Roblox is getting from this donation.

Quoting: 14I, too, am forced to work on the vile macOS. My solutions include using it via ssh as much as possible and I set up Super+Q as an Alt+F4 alternative (for an almost consistent experience on both OS-s).Quoting: slaapliedjeYeah, I'm considering switching my Plasma buttons to left side since I work with a Mac a lot, but doing so gives me this weird feeling that I was defeated. Decisions, decisions... :PQuoting: fenglengshunThe beauty is, most operating system / desktop environments give you the option. Not so on macOS.Quoting: slaapliedjeThe proper place for the X button, looking at you, Apple! I've looked up how to flip that to the other side on macOS, and apparently the Almighty Apple has spoken and does not allow such things... All other operating systems I've ever used has it on the right side... but not macOS...Eh. I prefer top left window-control buttons. It especially made sense with a Unity-like UX, where you have the window-controls pinned on the top panel as well, and you have the behaviour of hiding titlebar when a window is maximized.
Top left just felt natural for me. Also, kinda corresponds to the location of Esc button and most back/burger menu buttons positions.

Quoting: fenglengshunFor me I currently enjoy having the buttons on the system panel (and only there for fullscreen windows) - so that to close (or de-maximize, minimize) I go max top right, and to open new apps I go max top left.Quoting: slaapliedjeThe proper place for the X button, looking at you, Apple! Quoting: fenglengshunElon would go so far as to start a company appearing to develop a better Wayland that runs inside magnetic tubes just to muddy the waters and take away some of the attention and investments from the Wayland that actually exists and works.Quoting: slaapliedjeHaha, indeed. I'm betting Elon would have taken over X.org if he could.Elon would be a Wayland hater if he's a Linux user lol
