Valve makes auto-update adjustments to help with managing Steam's bandwidth use

I wanted to mention a DL-related feature I would like in Steam - shutdown/sleep/close_steam after downloads finish - a functionality that torrent programs usually have. I would be very happy also if I would have more control and I could just via CLI run Steam specifically to update stuff and then it exits when done and I can chain a shutdown command after that (like I often do with other updates - sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y && sudo flatpak update -y && sudo snap refresh && sudo systemctl halt).

I'm also interested of decent controller support.

I don't mean to reject it for lacking $nextUnsupportedPlatform, but - is itch.io support planned?

This, this, this! I love the keys, and the feel of my Lenovo keyboard, but whatever jackass decided that the Function key should be the bottom-left key needs a kick in the ass. If the Function and Ctrl key were flipped, it would be a near perfect laptop.
Some models of laptops have this configurable in BIOS. I mean it won't switch the physical label on it, but that can be worked around with some sticker (or ignored).

I'll add my preferences to this list of conflicting ridiculous demands :D :

* USB-C as main charging port or bust.
* 2-in-1 form factor with touch screen is pretty sweet for a portable laptop like this one.
* AMD if possible. Would be willing to pay up to 20% battery life diff for that if I have to.

Jackbox Games are going international with 'Quiplash 2 InterLASHional'

I think one thing often overlooked is cultural localization.

With many trivia-based Jackbox games me and my friends can easily understand English, but we don't know the USA-centric cultural references. I mean we do consume massive amounts of US culture, but we don't know (or want to know sometimes) USA geography (small towns, mayor names), small performers, local traditions etc etc. So the trivias are a big turnoff for me.

I don't understand why they cannot implement a crowdsourced (Steam workshop or other) questions and answers. I know it is impossible to filter the content, but maybe an intelligent voting/tagging system could do that for them?

I still enjoy many other of their games that are more culture independent by having more player-derived content focus (players drawing, writing, asking...).

My impression was there's more job offers than (good) developers, so I guess there might be a chance without prove of work?
It's entirely possible I'm simply a bad developer, but anytime I've tried anywhere slightly outside my core CV experience I hear either nothing back, or get a very nice letter saying no. It's to be expected really. If my current application falls through however, I may look into this because there will be nothing to lose.
IMO (not a lot of experience, and my experience might not be transferable to your situations), (good) employers care about suitability for position more than track record. But "suitability for position" might include communication skills and team work skills. Brilliant devs with undeveloped social and self-management skills are not so sought after these days maybe.

I wanted to share this [External Link] about John Oliver. The tl;dr and/or a better title would be "Last Week Tonight Is Wrongly Classified By Its Host In Order To Dodge Responsibility But Is Also Still Entertaining And Informative Even If It Sometimes Misses The Full Context Of The Sociopolitical Phenomenon It Chooses To Discuss Or Gets Some Things Wrong Out Of Assumed Good Faith And Here's Why"
I didn't watch your video (I tend to shy away from random youtube links), but does it have any relevance to this particular John Oliver piece?

Also, I think John Oliver is brilliant, but comedians shouldn't be anyone's primary source of news. Of course, social media is even worse.
Sorry for late reply. No relevance to that particular one. I agree with your opinions. Mind if I ask why you avoid random youtube links? I avoid them to not get recommendations that I don't want, so for all suspicious/random ones I right click "Copy link location" and then open private browsing and paste it there. Ofc not telling you what to do, but just curious about other perspectives and eager to help if it is low effort for me. :)

E-voting is no solution, and for a non-existing problem, that is.
Nonsense. It solves the problem that people have got wise to most of the traditional forms of ballot-stuffing.
Funny and true, but I think the main aspect of it is adapting voting to our 21st century lifestyle, where everything should be like fast food because our attention spans are super short and we can't stand inconvenience. So this effectively gets young people to vote as well. Otherwise our politics would be defined by increasingly old people and the most motivated and perhaps mentally healthy people.

Wow. What I wrote sounds so sarcastic and cynical even though I didn't really mean it that way, but I slightly also did mean the sarcasm.
