@grigi Very relatable.
I recently had an analogous experience when switching back to an older laptop due to previous one's screen being broken. I uninstalled Steam on it. Even the browsing experience is so slow that one of my apartment mates told me in a solemn voice "I'm sorry for your loss" 😂.
But this experience has made me more peaceful. I'm less in an ADHD rush to click, view, interact constantly.

* They should change the name already! (which is a fair point)I did find the Glimpse name (used by a now-defunct fork) a quite pleasing nod to the original name and it is visuals-related term with moderate searchability.

Community is incredible!(😄 To both oversimplify the complex world and to veer a bit off-topic:) From the three fields I seem to have more knowledge and wisdom in - building communities seems to be the answer to numerous problems in the fields of software, climate-change adaptation, AND mental health 😮

I was privileged enough to not care about the mounds of DLC. But I got tilted when I realized that even with all the DLC and any mods in existence, a car-free city is an unimaginable element that I am not allowed to have in my fantasy city!! Why!!? I want nightly garbage-transporting trams in my city-simulation toy, dammit 😢!

I am using a *very* outdated Kubuntu with all the newest software via Flatpak (some of it closed-source!). I guess, I'll add this to my collection of small pet fires burning brightly in my life. This is fine.

@dpanter
I was left puzzled about these things as well and didn't even realize all 3 happened simultaneously.
Can anyone share where Liam posted that? I didn't notice it onsite and I kind of don't use BlueSky or Mastodon (partly because the things I most care about get posted on this site anyway).
Quoting died because of the incomprehensibly stupid UK Online Safety Act, along with the forum, user uploaded avatars and other things.@ToddL
Liam has already posted why the button isn't there anymore, along with the forum being removed, and it has to do with the UK's new Online Safety Act.Thank you!

As for the changes, I think I heard like 10 years ago that the design aspiration for the Civ franchise is to keep a third, replace a third with new and modify a third(??). I don't remember it that well 😄, but needless to say that risking widespread (initial) disapproval is the price they decided to pay in order to not be like 17 versions of Worms that are practically indistinguishable (or sports games releasing yearly, or CoD-Battlefield-like shooters? I'm getting into fields I don't know well now...).

It's also why I stick with Kubuntu myself. I love KDE Plasma, and don't want the hassle of such breaking changes so potentially often. I do wish I could more easily get newer Plasma releases though...I want to switch to Arch from Kubuntu for the same reason. But I would want to set up a reliable and easy to use snapshot, system to roll back issues whenever one crops up, with the figuring out what actually went wrong being highly optional for me since I don't often have the resources ((money), time, or mental resources (stimulation, drive, interest, focus, patience)) to deal with it.
