Part of me wishes this came with low-power optimizations and an e-ink display. Not sure why I would still need it, but sounds cool 😅

Any publicity is good publicity? I prolly wouldn't have checked out the video otherwise. The video showed some cool vibes.
I am curious though what country they are from. Because prison can mean severely different things depending on the country. I wouldn't be surprised if one could continue developing their game while in a prison in a Nordic country. 😀

I half expect Valve to make something similar to Steam Input a few years down the line (Valve time), but for output (not input) modifications. I'd call it Steam Output 😛. Think zoom like in KDE desktop mode - and judging from this article - also something to increase contrast or turn transparent areas into opaque areas (or modify UI in other, more creative ways).

Quoting: hell0As someone who worked on the "other side" (in fact, I personally automated some abuse handling), I'd like to offer a bit of a different point of view.I agree. The economics at play simply make automation the only realistic option. I guess what we should wish for, in the case of the Itch.io story, would be a more sophisticated automated system. E.g. such that long-standing pages get a longer grace period before being killed or get higher priority human (or very good automated) verification.
Firstly internet in general is fundamentally flawed in that most of the protocols and technologies in use today were developed by some nerds in a uni/garage. They were never intended to be used at such scale nor were they designed to be abuse-proof.
As a result, internet is full of trash. I worked for some small registrar/host and we would get hundreds of abuse reports daily, week-end included. And the sad truth is that 99.9% of them were legitimate: hacked websites, domain registered with fake/stolen info for phishing, servers used to send spam, the list is endless.
Additionally, the bad actors are not dumb, abuses are often obfuscated (like displaying only if the referrer is google or at certain times of the day) to make detection harder. Checking whether a website is really compromised may require some technical skills (and thus be expensive).
It sucks for itch and imo, their registrar is still at fault if itch did indeed reply (should have trigger a human check). But in general "shoot first, check second" is sadly the most efficient way to protect people from scams, phishing and other bad stuff.

Yeah, I too mostly ignore the grind. Sometimes I consent (and sometimes not) to being manipulated into doing some daily quests or other made-up progress bars, but I'm not seeking vehicle unlocks. It's just a bonus.

Quoting: StellaWhen googling for "Discord PTT" I got push-to-talk [External Link] 😉Quoting: wytrabbitI'm afraid I don't really understand, what is PTT? I googled and found only a medical condition :cry:Quoting: StellaThis is why I was using Vesktop instead of the official client. Nice to see it get fixedI use a Discord alternative sometimes as well for chatting, but only official discord has PTT so far. PTT is a must-have for me.

Discord is less about simple messaging and more about a community (or plural). Slack is similar, but instead of a casual vibe, they're going for that professional market. I guess Rocket.Chat is somewhat of a FLO (free/libre/open) replacement for the latter.
It feels as if some (devs) want Element/Matrix to be a Discord replacement and some want it to be a generic messaging app (replacement for Telegram, Signal, FB Messenger, WhatsApp, Line, etc).

Quoting: Liam DaweI've converted my closes 13 or so friends to using Element/Matrix BUT only as a generic 1-to-1 and 1-to-many messaging replacement.Quoting: PyrateStill can't believe there's no proper privacy friendly alternative to Discord. Matrix/Element is the closest I found but even that one is not there yet.Every time I tried Matrix, I found it to be pretty horribly designed. Their mod tools were rubbish, and their multi-room system was ridiculously bad that just strung multiple standalone rooms under a special heading and that was seemingly all it really did. Discord at least generally works well at its job.

Echoing the support in these comments for this studio (Larian), I am considering buying on GOG as well, just to give them more of my money.
