Quoting: WernerDay ~2237 Windows free :D^_^

but Welcome :)
Day ~6300 Windows Free and that's only because my employer provided Windows NT on my first dev system. Once I figured out how to work around run certain tools under Wine, the rest is history.

Welcome!
Damn, I'm beaten... only about 3400 days here. 4200 days @95% free and I'm still not close.

My hats off to you @TobyHaynes :woot:

Quoting: ElvanexThe concept sounds interesting, but tbh, the visuals look like it's in very early alpha stages, so hopefully that's part of what was meant by polishing it up. Always great to see developers openly using Linux though. :)
Crude visuals...

You obviously never played Dwarf Fortress or the original Rogue.
lol, you do realize you are trying to compare 2 much older games to one that is coming out this year, right? :P Also, I have tried to play Dwarf Fortress, but it's UI is waaay too cumbersome. Which is a shame, because it's an amazing game. :)
Those two games may be older, but Dwarf Fortress [External Link] is still being developed today. Not sure about Rogue, but NetHack [External Link] (a successor) and Brogue [External Link] (another successor) are still under development.

They are all quite popular and that proves that many people actually care more about gameplay than a glossy finish. Not to mention all the games claiming to be "rogue like" or those similar to Dwarf Fortress.

Reassembly, the awesome spaceship builder and exploration game has its first expansion out now

And darn... I already paused my Humble Monthly (just yesterday.)

Its on sale there and I guess now, I need to pay 10% more... oh well, worse things have happened.

EDIT: Thanks to g000h's advise, I was able to "Unpause" my Humble Monthly sub, purchase Reassembly, and then re-Pause my subscription even with the deadline to pause this month just hours away.

Quoting: g000hIt is a constant amusement to me when I read an article like this, then check my Game Library, and realise "Cool, I actually own the game!"
Of course, when you are g000h, you already own 2/3 of all the games in existence... :P

Grab a free copy of 'A Story About My Uncle' in the Humble Store Winter Sale that's now live

Quoting: stretch611As much as I like a good sale.... Isn't this a bit overkill?

The Steam Sale just ended a week ago, so did GOG's Winter Sale, AND Humble... What's left to buy that wasn't on sale a week ago? Also, who has money in the budget left for more?
Well, the free game is free so *shrugs*

The thing is, everyone is different. This one is after the festive period and possibly after people got paid again, the timing here might suit a lot of people more than the dates on other sales.

As always, what's bad for one is good for another. For some people, the addition of helping a charity in a small way is also a factor, you can argue they could donate directly (valid point) but it's an additional thing on top of getting something you want.

On top of that again, for Humble Monthly subs they get additional money off and so on.
I'm not really complaining. After all, a sale is still a sale.

And yes, the free game is news and is important.
'
But, it is true that pretty much everything here was on sale a week ago... And even though those holiday sales were not announced in advance (although the steam sale always seems to leak online) people expected them and budgeted for them. If people had spare money to spend, likely it was done in the previous sale.

Paradox Interactive have purchased the rights to Prison Architect from Introversion

Forgot to mention this...

I guess I will miss those cheesy update videos that came out with every beta and post 1.0 game update.

I'm also deeply saddened about this change of hands. I have over 900 hours in play of Prison Architect, back to the Early Access days. tbh, I would have been happy if they left the game alone after the 1.0 release and I still received a great value for my money.

I am thankful for the post-1.0 updates and I think that introversion had a great team working on PA. Now that it is changing hands I pray for no more updates, but I doubt Paradox would buy the rights and not add DLC. Hopefully, they will make it easy for existing players and toss a "beta branch" on steam so we can play it as is forever.

If it isn't obvious by now, I fully agree with @pb's sentiment towards Paradox and DLC.

One good thing for me is that I bought it originally through a Humble Bundle. I was able to go there download the file for the game directly so that now I have a good copy. Also, I remember that Prison Architect was offered through GOG Connect as well... Sure enough, I have it on that site as well and available for download.

Hope most of you used GOG connect while you had the chance... now is the time to save a copy of the game while you can.

EDIT: I am not worried about Paradox Updates per se, I am worried about Paradox updating with new content as a DLC that I am not interested in (or not interested in at their prices.) Then they change the balancing of the game based on the new content and that "balancing" affects the base game in an adverse way.
