Steam will now scale better with KDE and GNOME

Quoting: MrokiiI don't see any scaling, and I am on the latest beta. The font is just as small as it ever was, it's an abomination in 2023. Valves' "efforts" to make it usable on 4k-screens are just laughable.

I'm on Kubuntu 23.04, btw, with an AMD graphics card and its drivers.
Just force it yourself! I did, and and now I can finally see everything clearly on my 14" full HD laptop display!
How? I was able to in the past, but nowadays it seems theming isn't even possible anymore, and manually editing Steams' own html (or css?)-files doesn't work either as it seems, Steam is always re-downloading the original version, replacing the edited one.

GOG attempt to bring customers back with a revival of Good Old Games

Quoting: TodCIt wasn't just lack of Linux support, I had Windows games that wouldn't keep working -- I was willing to keep a Windows VM around for that. But lack of DRM when you can't get the game to run makes no difference.

I just recently found out about Lutris from this site, and that seems to make GOG stuff easier to run just in general -- even compared to directly on Windows.
Not sure why, but Lutris's GUI looks horrible on my Kubuntu-Desktop. I've had more fun with "importing" Gog-Games into steam, even though it's not without its problems (each time I had to manually edit the paths to the executable and the game-folder). But it was worth it as I could play the games using Proton and simply start them via the Steam-App.

Picture logic puzzle game Pixross from Kenney is out now and it's total joy

After having solved numerous Nonograms with 80x80 pixels on an Android app, this doesn't seem to pose a challenge. :-D

If anybody is interested, it's named "Nonograms Katana" and is available via the play store. Would love to see that one on Linux.

Primal Light is out now with some great pixel-art platforming action

Quoting: CFWhitmanThe first thing I thought when I saw the picture was, 'That reminds me of Shadow of the Beast; I hope it's not as hard,' but it sounds like it's too similar to Shadow of the Beast. I don't generally feel like I have time anymore to play games that don't let you save your progress, and you have to go through the whole game from the beginning over and over to finish it. Maybe if the controls feel solid enough it will pull me in; I don't know.
My thoughts exactly, and that intensified when I watched the video. The gameplay and the music is extremely similar to Shadow Of the Beast. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. :-)

Some early thoughts on The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters from Devespresso Games

One important piece of information is that (according to the devs themselves) they don't support the XBox-controller. It only works partially, effectively making it useless for this game (whereas it did work with the 1st game, if I remember correctly).

Xeno Crisis is a true action-packed retro throwback worth your time and it's out now

I'm getting sick and tired of "randomly generated" layouts for games like this. It's come to a point that I immediately loose interest in even taking a deeper look at the game. More and more I have a feeling as if these layout-techniques are nothing but a cheap excuse lazy developers use, so they don't have to come up with clever / intriguing level-designs.

The striking hidden object adventure game 'My Brother Rabbit' to release later this year with Linux support

Sorry to say that, but imho Artifex Mundi games have been getting more and more boring over time. While the graphics are usually gorgeous (and even that isn't a given), the stories are often far less than stellar. They're repetitive and full of stereotypes, without any surprises. The same goes for "riddles", if you can call them that, as they have become ridiculously easy, up to a point where there is not the slightest challenge involved. Given that these games can be solved in very few hours and their heightened price point, I stopped buying them quite a while ago, as there's simply not enough "bang for your buck".

Hollow Knight: Lifeblood Update announced, will add a new boss and map markers

"One boss has been seriously upgraded. A true challenge awaits!"

Well, that immediately made this totally uninteresting for me. I haven*t even beat all bosses *now* and they feel the need to make one of them even more difficult to defeat? Wth?!?!

Lovecraftian horror game 'Conarium' officially released for Linux
8 Feb 2018 at 9:43 am UTC

Quoting: FeistHeh, I was a bit quick on the trigger and missed the sale. Still, I can't really feel bad about that since I do want developers who support linux to make a profit and I also want more lovecraftian games. (just became aware that Frogwares, who are known for their Sherlock Holmes adventures, are making "The Sinking City" that looks very promising)
You mention Linux support, but all the games you talk about seem to be Windows-only. Or am I missing something? Plus, at least on Steam, the reviews for some of the Sherlock Holmes-games aren't too positive.
