Well, I remember reading an archived LinuxGames post from about five or six years ago where many people were complaining that there was basically nowhere but TuxGames to buy native gaming titles. That has thankfully been changed somewhat.

Looks to be a bit more fancy than Tux Games or Wupra, judging by this page:

Yeah, but if it is like the Windows version, even if you purchased your version from a different source, I believe you can still use Desura with many titles to manage the install and use it to install and manage mods for it. So if they offer support for say Doom 3 or UT2004, even if they do not sell them, that would be quite a few interesting mods.
This is just the impression I got, but I know for a fact that you can do this with Doom 3 on Windows, so I assume it will be the same with the Linux version (or I at least hope). :D

Revenge of the Titans + other puppygames hits coming to USC

Fair enough, I actually quite like the new XFCE myself actually, except for the fact I have a deep hatred of Thunar, so whenever I use XFCE I always continue to use Nautilus as my file manager. Since I always have Gnome installed anyway it is no big deal.
I just posted my thoughts on the Gnome Shell on the FedoraForum if anyone is interested:

Or computer to computer presumably. Can the USC offer that?

Besides, I would hate to have to have an Ubuntu VM or something just because a game I want to play on my Fedora box is only available through the USC. What would be the point of me doing native gaming in the end if I have to mess with other systems anyway?
Here is a relevant quote from Alexander Zubov of Steel Storm fame on the matter:
And it just seems more and more promising every time I think of it. :D

The Linux market is very fragmented. USC is a good solution for Ubuntu market. However, while Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions, it doesn’t represent the whole market. Hopefully with Desura releasing their Linux client things will change and game developers will be able to cover most of the Linux market.http://www.pressxordie.com/2011/06/16/interview-kot-in-action-talks-steel-storm/ [External Link]

Sorry, it was my @#@!#$ modem again. Problem is you are not sure when it actually is able to post, so you have to keep telling it to post when it does. But it turns out it did post some of your previous tries, but just did not update. @%^!

I do not see much competition:
Desura: Launch platform for Windows, Mac OS X, and all versions of Linux.
Ubuntu Software Centre: Launch platform for only one version of Linux.
Keep in mind, by all accounts the majority of Linux users are still using other distros, even if out of all the distros Ubuntu has the most users. But the combined forces of Fedora, Debian, OpenSUSE and the rest still far outnumber the total Ubuntu user share. So for any serious company, it would be a serious mistake to lock yourself to only one distribution. After all, there is still a common if incorrect belief that the Linux market is still to small for any developers to be seriously interested in anyway. Why would anyone want to more than halve that market? As such, I can not see the USC as being a serious thorn in Desura side. Any smart indie would be considering them first and the USC second.
And this is coming from someone who was not even that intersted in Desura until a few months ago. :)

Well, saying something looks better or works better are subjective Liam. I personally prefer interfaces with less bling, which is why I generally avoid compositing window managers and desktop effects, and the new website does have more bling than the old. I do agree that the theme for the old one was rather ugly though, and the fact that it did not fit with the forums was a sizeable aesthetic drawback. But I heartily respect the effort you put into the mobile website, and I may vary well use it when I am stuck on the modem as I am now. Still, considering I barely go to the main webpage and mostly just prowl around the forums looking for unsuspecting victims to assault with my devastatingly witty comments :p, it does not change much since this understandably can not change the forums. But the effort is appreciated. ;)
