It is more the serendipity of the timing I found amusing.

Quoting: wvstolzingSo far LGR has shown absolutely no interest in (or knowledge of) the unix & free software side of things. He is not a big Linux guy, but it has come up in some of his videos in the past (he has even recommended WINE as a solution for playing old Windows games) and I know for a fact he has a few Loki Software boxes in his collection. Being more of a retro gaming and tech channel, it is not going to come up as much.

Quoting: liamdaweWho can forget all of the wonderful contributors? Many came and went over the years to help out for fun, thanks to all and especially those of you who’ve stuck around.Looking back I have somehow managed to write at least one article per year since 2012. I am surprised.

The Seven Stages of Grief come to mind. Canonical seems to have reached denial.
Just like with Mir and Unity all over again.

Just in case anyone can find any value in it, here is my custom Arch install guide:

Tailored specifically for my use case of course. Still, it could give someone a rough idea. You should gain a proper understanding of what you are doing from the Arch Wiki as well of course.

Quoting: rea987I know it's too much to ask but wouldn't a spreadsheet that compares features of those source ports and engine reimplementations as well as the original a good idea? :whistle:Sure, it would not be a bad idea, but considering Fresh Supply and NBlood only came out within the last few months, and BloodGDX is still in active development, things are still changing rapidly at the moment.

I think it is only reasonable to point out that, despite having the official blessing of Atari, this port is essentially the same as NBlood or BloodGDX in that it is a reverse engineer made with no access to the original game's source code. All three ports have their varying strengths and weaknesses, and I would recommend weighing up the various options available before playing.
More information can be found on the Blood Wiki (that I happen to moderate):

Quoting: PangaeaThey are there, sort of. But you need to buy the inferior versions first for twice the price. So 20 dollars for a 20 year old game. Pretty damn nuts. If it at least was possible to buy the originals without forking out money to those hacks, it would be far less of a problem. Then people would have a choice. Now they don't.Since Beamdog is offering both new content and modern support the fact that the original game is from 20 years ago hardly seems relevant to me in terms of its pricing. And as mentioned they are often on sale.
