Humble Weekly Sale To Support Open Source Projects, Nice!
27 Mar 2014 at 10:44 pm UTC

Not terribly excited by any of the games (just as a matter of taste) but I probably will throw some money in as I do genuinely appreciate the concept, making this only the second Humble Weekly Sale I ever felt the desire to participate in.

FTL: Advanced Edition Arrives To Frustrate Some More On April 3rd
27 Mar 2014 at 10:33 pm UTC

So I might actually be able to play the two copies of FTL I bought last year - I learned better than to jump into a Rougelike before all of the extra content was released after having to spend three months bashing through Dungeons of Dredmor again with all of the DLCs added. ;)

A Big List Of Linux FPS Games, Here's Over 30 To Check Out

Quoting: philip550c
Quoting: OrkultusSoldier of Fortune, and Kingpin: Life of Crime.
How do I get those two?
Legally? With difficulty. Unfortunately.

I would definitely have had all of the native id Tech games on this list (at least the more recent ones) but it is nice to know that Linux gaming has broadened its horizons enough that one can make a list that does not include any of them.

NVIDIA, AMD, Intel Explain How OpenGL Can Unlock 15x Performance Gains, With Slides
21 Mar 2014 at 5:31 pm UTC

Quoting: AnonymousSeriously people, all your parroting without owning products you're talking about is mind numbingly awful. STFU unless you OWN/currently use them.
Well, Intel works fine in my brother's laptop for the admittedly low-intensity gaming he does, and I love the Radeon HD 4670 with R600g that I have in my machine. Handles all the gaming I want to do with decent performance and good thermal output, especially when considering all the driver improvements that have happened over the past year. The Radeon HD 5750 that I recommended to my other brother has also been running really well, except for a few minor issues regarding HyperZ.

At this point I would never touch a blob driver - it is just too difficult to maintain, especially since I use either Arch or Fedora which tend to operate fairly close to upstream.

Unity 5 Announced With WebGL Exporting, Will They Fix Linux Mouse Woes?

Never encountered the mouse problems myself, even in games where Liam encountered them. :|

GOG.com Are Going To Support Linux, Confirmed!
19 Mar 2014 at 6:02 pm UTC

Quoting: philip550cI'm guessing since they are supporting ubuntu/mint that it will be deb files.
I certainly hope not; as Ryan Gordon said in his Steam Dev Days talk, it is never worth the trouble for game developers to actually integrate themselves into distribution's package managers.

Also, I was under the impression that GOG prided itself on their own installer solutions? At least on Windows?

Taking another look, there are some OS X DOSBox wrappers on GOG:

GOG.com Are Going To Support Linux, Confirmed!

Are any of the Dosbox wrapper based games supported on Mac? I have not seen any from a casual glance, and it makes me wonder if they have any plans to do so on Linux.

Regardless, really, really, really, great news! :D
