Quoting: godlikeThe game downloads happily enough (15gb), but it wont play. The old school "no executable found" problem.Quoting: SoltrummanThe Witcher 2 turned up in my Linux-library on Steam today. Seem to be able to download it as well, not sure if it works when downloaded though.Cool! If it works let us know :)
It's a good game and it's great to see it on Linux.

Fantastic news!
Been avoiding them recently (especially if the game has a Linux version on Steam), but sweet. I imagine this only really includes games that run in Dosbox right? I wonder if theyre going to start packaging wine... but then I suppose whatever works on OS X should be alright for us (native versions not withstanding)

Humble Store Adds Euro & British Pricing With Annoying Results

Outside of sales, Steam is really bad pricing wise. I recall when Crusader Kings 2 came out on Linux. I went to buy it on Steam (for about £30) and thought, let me check Amazon.
Got the original game and a couple of expansion packs for about £8. Used the code on steam and happy days.
Now with sales, they kick ass. Certainly a convenience store. Even EU4 could be bought around the place for about £10 less then on Steam the day it came out, but by then I had such a hard on for Paradox that I wanted to give them the extra money through a pre-order.
300hrs and counting on ck2... damn them.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 On Kickstarter, Funded In No Time
14 Feb 2014 at 10:33 am UTC
The publisher gave them a certain amount of money to make a game, great. They have a certain expectation of cost and how much they'll project to make back. all great so far.
Now, with this kickstarter, the dev's are giving people a chance to improve a game they might love. The publisher should already be making back the amount it wants so any extra should be gravy for the developer or maybe they pay the publisher off quicker. Everyones happy.
As for the presales thing, it is a concern but if the kickstarter is up front about what it is we are kickstarting then at least people have a choice. Not a bad thing I guess. Don't get me started on greenlight :P

Quoting: TwinklesI really enjoyed BoUT1, but I am starting to wonder: are they still being fair to their publisher?I hope the publisher doesn't get any extra (not sure how you would quantify extra). It could be they get a percentage of all sales, or they get a minimum amount back.
I mean they already got funding, presumably based on sales predictions that are now way off because kickstarter backers already receive an edition of the game. Does the publisher get a cut of the kickstarter funds?
It's none of my business actually, but there's another point to it: aren't we crossing the line right here from funding projects that would otherwise not happen into non-refundable pre-sales?

I had to use the Intel card to avoid an "end of game" crash that happened using optimus. The completed game cheevo wouldn't fire otherwise!
I think I'm in for this, sometimes I just cant for the life of me figure out what to do next but generally, very enjoyable games!

Jagged Alliance: Back In Action To Go Gold For Linux This Month

This game has been out a while, its probably on humble weekly sale soon for peanuts. I got Cities in Motion 1 + 2 via a weekly sale for nothing... I will go get all the expansion packs through steam if i must though, paradox can take all the money they want from me <3.

Quoting: JoeAccording to commercial and user reviews this is unfortunately not a good game.Agreed... I'm still probably going to buy it though. Somewhere between charity, thanks for supporting linux and supporting Linux sales.

Jagged Alliance 2 is one of my favourite games on Linux. Been playing it on my openpandora and n900 as well (although small screen makes it damn hard).
Never quite have the firepower to finish the game though. If this one is half as good, it will be worth it. Metacritic wasn't favourable last I looked though!

Slitherine To Improve Linux Support

Quoting: EdgarThe box is in my hands. It is wider than a normal DVD case, because of the thick manual, which includes the installation instructions for Linux.Ah good to know, I've decided to leave it for now. I have the game and my personalised DVD. It is weird buying a game and having a regular DVDRW in the case with a printed front. Not the expected silver disc!
Quoting: Maquis196I am debating about gifting my copy to someone and buying this new fangled CD with Linux version on it. As long as there is a Penguin on the box I'm happy!Where the old box says "PC DVD" in the front, now there is a Penguin (and the other two logos), but not in the spine where "PC DVD" hast just been removed.
Not only the serial number, my name is also printed on the DVD :D
