Quoting: CorbenNice! When I asked about Linux support on twitter [External Link] in November, it wasn't 100%.
Yep, glad to see they are comitting to it at last.

Yeah, I'm aware of this bug and this new version fixed it:
Yep, that's fixed now! Looking forward to UI improvements... I decided to install "A Short Hike" as a test, and saw it still uses xterm for that. Once it finished the installation, I had to close the window manually, and the app window didn't refresh. But when I went back to the library, it recognized it was installed, and clicking it showed the Play/Uninstall buttons.

Search and filter (at least toggle between installed/all) options for the library are also in order, I would think.

When installing, remember the last install location (and maybe have an option to not bother asking all the time).

If you click on your username, it shows you a big LOGOUT button, but no Cancel or Back to Library (have to restart if I don't want to log out, I guess?). Oh, clicking on the username goes back - not very intuitive.

I tried an earlier version, and it just had a login loop. Latest version says it changed that, but it never prompts for anything at all and just shows a blank window. It does show an error when run from CLI:

Error occurred in handler for 'readFile': TypeError: Cannot read property 'url' of undefined
at /opt/heroic/resources/app.asar/build/main.js:152:15

Meanwhile, legendary itself is working fine, at least to log in and list all the free games I claimed; I'm happy to cost Epic money.

Our top favourite Linux games released in 2020

Unfortunately, the pandemic didn't provide extra gaming time for me - e-commerce is booming these days. I've only played maybe 1% of what's in my Steam library. Looking at the history, here's what I enjoyed this year:

Whispers of a Machine - when asked if I've played Cyberpunk yet, I pointed at this one and said "kind of..."

Night of the Rabbit - Daedalic makes nice games; this was definitely not the silly humor of Deponia, but it was entertaining.

Agent A: A puzzle in disguise - kind of simplistic puzzle game, but done well enough

Darkestville Castle - a humorous adventure game

Strange Brigade - a fun action game, runs great with Proton

Beautiful Desolation - from the guys who did Cayne and Stasis; lovely graphics from them as usual. They are making a Stasis 2 but unfortunately won't commit to Linux support on that one.

Sol 705 - quirky adventure game; not the best, but decent for a one man production

Guard Duty - another humorous adventure game (can you tell I like those?)

Supraland - mostly before he dropped Linux support. He kept breaking it in updates, then dropped it. Seems to work fine with Proton, but was annoyed (especially since he had just finished the Kickstarter for the sequel, which promised Linux support), so just haven't gone back to it so far. Maybe he'll bring back Linux support when he has to do it for the sequel, or maybe he'll just be a dick and cancel that despite it being promised.

My Brother Rabbit - kind of a hidden object game, but I enjoyed it

Kathy Rain - from the same people that did Whispers of a machine; they do nice work

I could have sworn it said remix before, since it had all been bundled before. But I must have imagined that...

That's what I'm waiting for as well, it's needed for Cyberpunk 2077.
I wasn't clear on that bit. It sounded like using that extension just happened to work around stupid bugs in the game. So if the game gets good bugfixes, then that extension is probably unnecessary. After all, it mostly works on Nvidia already (with probably the same amount of crashing that is seen on Windows, from what I've heard).

Seems like gamemode support is something they should add into Proton - unless there are some Windows games where it has undesirable side effects? I'm not saying gamemode should be required, but rather it should be automatically used when present, like Feral's games.

Quoting: pbI'm gaming on SteamOS 2, but eagerly waiting for SteamOS 3.
I trust it will, or maybe they will skip a number or release SteamOS 4 (because 3 was already in the works but they scrapped it
Don't forget that Valve has an aversion to the number 3. ;-)
