Speculation: porting studio Feral Interactive could be in some trouble (updated: they're fine)

Quoting: Whitewolfe80wb ... promised Arkham then pulled the plug on feral.
Do we know for sure who pulled the plug? It happened when it was getting review bombed and everyone was using the (brand new!) Steam refunding system. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Feral backed out at that point. Either way, it's disappointing, as it seems the reviews turned quite positive after the initial hatred.

Is it just me, or does it need a broader color palette? Everything looks washed out...

Quoting: TheRiddickPerformance wise, NTFS is pretty damn fast under windows
Definitely not my experience, but for general desktop use / gaming I guess it's fine.

Quoting: TheRiddickconsidering moving to EXT4 and just using a paragon license.
I've been hoping Phoronix would do some benchmarks (even asked once), but he never has.

Quoting: TheRiddickAND NO I REFUSE to use BTRFS, its amazingly slow, as proven continuously with benchmarks and comparisons!
:D

Quoting: TheRiddickwindows AMD driver is in somewhat bad shape
Just got a new Windows box at work; the damn AMD drivers do a hard reset whenever I use Flash (unfortunately, there are some websites that still require it, even though the browsers are doing everything they can to make it hard to use it). The boss had issues with webcam software, so he changed his for an Nvidia card - I might be next, if I can't find a stable driver version.

Quoting: TheRiddickAlso there is a significant disk access penalty but that COULD be related to using NTFS under Linux
Bad move, NTFS is total garbage compared to every Linux-native file system. Just look at any of the I/O benchmarks on Phoronix (Windows native vs Linux native).

The sad case of Unreal Engine 1 on Mesa and Linux in 2020

I have the Loki Quake3 tin box around here somewhere, and I'm pretty sure I have the Unreal Tournament box as well... but I'm pretty sure the Linux version was in the standard retail box for that one? Or maybe that was just UT2003 and UT2004:

Hmmm... according to Wikipedia, the original Unreal Tournament was going to be open source until Loki took it over:

macOS and Linux players can reach out directly to Steam to request refunds and they will be honored. In these cases, Steam will make an exception to their 2 hours limit rule.
Yep, they closed out my refund request with a "here's the help link for Steam." Doesn't do me any good when I bought the Steam key on a third-party store (probably Humble or Bundle Stars, but I don't remember any more?).

Recent reviews are far more positive than the overall reviews, so they must be heading in the right direction.

Supernatural post-apocalypse strategic RPG 'Graywalkers: Purgatory' landing on Linux in February

We've all heard that before; been more than a year now on this one:

There have been a few that never even bothered with the promised Linux version after the Windows version tanked (no big loss in those cases, I guess).

Still, I wish them the best - I found the concept interesting enough to back it way back when, after all, and they did have a Linux demo at some point.

The Humble Choice bundle is up for January with 12 games to pick from

Silly me, I thought the "Classic" plan still meant you get all the games; claimed 10 before I realized there were more than the limit this time! At least I wasn't disappointed with what I left out, although I might have been more careful if I had been paying attention.

Quoting: PixelDropI've never found a good way to sale/trade steam keys that isn't just a massive time sink and not worth it in the long run.
Someone else here suggested barter.vg a while back, and I've gotten some decent trades there.
