Single-player arena-styled FPS Cathedral 3-D arrives on Linux

I kind of confused this with Catacomb 3-D. Color scheme is even bit similar

Nice touch though is that light and shadow look somewhat modern so they're not aiming to be retro all the way. Based on the reviews though developer has some work to do as current rating is mixed on Steam.

Steam has turned 18 years old and PC gaming has never been the same since

I was most likely using FreeBSD or Linux back when Steam was originally released and I must have been mostly playing the open source games that were available back then, so I pretty much missed the beginning of Steam.

I was gifted though retail copy of Civ V back in 2011 and that needed activation on Steam. That meant running Steam client with Wine. When Linux version of Steam client was released, I was slowly weaned away from Windows games as back then you had to switch between the Windows and Linux clients.

Quoting: SupayParadox sacked their entire publishing QA department last year with very little warning and didn't even tell their other departments. They outsourced the work instead. They kept their own development QA who I believe work on their own PDS titles but there seems to have been some overlap on work and overall Paradox release quality has really suffered since then with significant bugs in most titles.

EDIT: There have also been issues reported with interal problems including bullying and harassment, and their CEO just suddenly quit citing irreconcilable differences with the board over the company strategy. Seems their incredible growth over the last few years is resulting in some issues, along with similar abuse and discrimination coming out of most game companies.
I was curious and looked up some sources as I wanted to know more. There's this moderately lengthy article in Rock Paper Shotgun: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/paradox-interactives-qa-staff-allege-poor-treatment-low-pay-and-mismanaged-layoffs [External Link]

For CEO changing, there's this: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2021-09-02-paradox-ceo-ebba-ljungerud-leaves-due-to-differing-views [External Link] (there's not that much detail in that one)

I own two out of three Linux natives, so I paused this month. Those who haven't tried FRAMED, it's worth a look. It's a puzzle game that looks bit like a animated comic book and the arrangement of the panels affects the outcome. It gets bit tricky when you progress, so I have never actually finished it.

This one is about weapon tweaks and should be the last teaser. There was promise of some other kind of video, so let's see what it is when it comes out.

Probably the only one who uses gentoo and plays games on it...

I just hope Valve switches for gentoo for steam OS hue hue hue
I always thought of Gentoo users as people who enjoy walking down dark alleys and getting mugged. 😜
No, you have misunderstood. Nobody has just gotten lights to compile yet properly yet, so meanwhile people bump into things.

You're welcome to come to the dark alley and help. Once we get the compilation to work, they will be brightest lights around the neighborhood, just wait and see

Take-Two filed a lawsuit against the reverse-engineered GTA III and Vice City developers

Quoting: tonRI'm very sorry to Electronic Arts (EA) for losing "the worst game publisher in the world of the year" title. This year "competition" is so damn tough.
It's actually bit funny as Electronic Arts has done something that's quite opposite what Take-Two is doing right now. The source code of Command & Conquer: Remastered Collections is available in Github with a GPLv3 license (though they have supplementary conditions to the license, which GPLv3 actually allows for certain things). In that particular case Electronic Arts actually collaborated with the modding community. I have probably forgotten some of the details, but Noclip has done documentary with some additional details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MUDQYWk6qY [External Link]

So releasing remastered version can be handled differently.

Quoting: AnzaJust dropping in to say that there should be now a beta branch with name linuxqa. So if somebody wants to test the game and give feedback to the developer, it's now possible.
Latest patch has Linux support again, so beta branch is no longer needed. It's not advertised on store page (yet?) and Liam was already asking about that.

Not the only one for sure, I use Gentoo and play games. Gentoo is just not for everybody and that's OK. If people find installing Arch hard, telling them to unpack the base operating system in order to compile the rest might be bit too much.
