Valheim update Hearth & Home is out now with lots new

Only thing swarming in feeding frenzy at ocean is deathsquitos if you're too close to plains. Swarm of sea serpents could be also quite scary though as they're so hungry that they will eat a boat.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyPresumably when you're at sea you can get your swarm of tame lox to attack in a vicious piranha-style feeding frenzy, each nasty little bite part-smoking the opponent while it's still alive, and . . .Valheims interpretation of lox is bit different. They're large furry land creatures and they enter the ocean only when aggroed. I had one fighting a troll in the ocean. I have no idea if they drown if they go too deep.
No?
More importantly, the existence of lox, tame or otherwise, surely implies the ability to make bagels and cream cheese. Uhm, manly Viking bagels and cream cheese, of course.

Lox meat is used by at least one recipe for sure (there might be more in Hearth and Home). Before Hearth and Home only other use was that they will attack mobs from other biomes that get too close. Compared to trolls, trees are even less match for them. Not that trolls might be match for them either, it depends on bit how many stars the troll has.

Quoting: WorMzyWolves do attack enemies yes, though some people have said that the howling gets annoying. I haven't had any tame ones as I didn't have any close by mountain. Closest one had river and I don't remember for sure that the mountain had any wolves.Quoting: g000hI just had a little squint at the spoilers and noticed "Tamed creatures" are in the game. I dislike the idea of taming and using creatures within games (although obviously other people do like that feature). With boars at least, taming them means they don't attack you and can breed with other tamed boars to produce piglets (so long as you feed them carrots). The only purpose for this is, as Ehvis says, is to use them as a food source.
Wondering how "important" tamed creatures are in the game - Do you have to use them (e.g. Like you cannot get anywhere without dinosaur-taming in ARK) or is it just a nice to have, but not needed, "animal familiar" or similar?
I've never encountered wolves, or lox, but I imagine tamed wolves attack enemies.

I played the demo earlier and it's oddly somewhat entertaining. In the demo there were few things though that didn't have obvious place, so I had to guess a little bit.
Based on that the game must be bit more fun than actual unpacking.

I started with new world though and haven't yet found plains. I just finally made a house after exploring the map and trying to find where the ocean is. Good that I wasn't too hasty as first bigger body of water I found was actually a lake.

Spoiler, click me
There seems to be lox saddle and in the trailer it looks bit like you can even breed lox.

I kind of confused this with Catacomb 3-D. Color scheme is even bit similar
Nice touch though is that light and shadow look somewhat modern so they're not aiming to be retro all the way. Based on the reviews though developer has some work to do as current rating is mixed on Steam.

I was most likely using FreeBSD or Linux back when Steam was originally released and I must have been mostly playing the open source games that were available back then, so I pretty much missed the beginning of Steam.
I was gifted though retail copy of Civ V back in 2011 and that needed activation on Steam. That meant running Steam client with Wine. When Linux version of Steam client was released, I was slowly weaned away from Windows games as back then you had to switch between the Windows and Linux clients.

Quoting: SupayParadox sacked their entire publishing QA department last year with very little warning and didn't even tell their other departments. They outsourced the work instead. They kept their own development QA who I believe work on their own PDS titles but there seems to have been some overlap on work and overall Paradox release quality has really suffered since then with significant bugs in most titles.I was curious and looked up some sources as I wanted to know more. There's this moderately lengthy article in Rock Paper Shotgun: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/paradox-interactives-qa-staff-allege-poor-treatment-low-pay-and-mismanaged-layoffs [External Link]
EDIT: There have also been issues reported with interal problems including bullying and harassment, and their CEO just suddenly quit citing irreconcilable differences with the board over the company strategy. Seems their incredible growth over the last few years is resulting in some issues, along with similar abuse and discrimination coming out of most game companies.

I own two out of three Linux natives, so I paused this month. Those who haven't tried FRAMED, it's worth a look. It's a puzzle game that looks bit like a animated comic book and the arrangement of the panels affects the outcome. It gets bit tricky when you progress, so I have never actually finished it.

This one is about weapon tweaks and should be the last teaser. There was promise of some other kind of video, so let's see what it is when it comes out.

Quoting: slaapliedjeNo, you have misunderstood. Nobody has just gotten lights to compile yet properly yet, so meanwhile people bump into things.Quoting: nenoroand 0.001% GentooI always thought of Gentoo users as people who enjoy walking down dark alleys and getting mugged. 😜
Probably the only one who uses gentoo and plays games on it...
I just hope Valve switches for gentoo for steam OS hue hue hue
