NVIDIA releases the 465.19.01 Beta driver for Linux, looks like more Wayland work coming
30 Mar 2021 at 4:45 pm UTC

Did GPU pass-through with Nvidia not work before? Or at least sounds like it wouldn't work when Windows driver would initialize it? Interesting...good to know there is work being done in this area.

I have a hackintrash system where OSX is running in a qemu-kvm vm and I'm passing through a Radeon RX460. It works great and I've seen posts where people do it with Nvidia cards too (the ones that apple has a driver for).

I did try windows7 vm a long time ago trying to pass through an AMD HD5850 or something. The vm booted up and detected the card but bsod when I i tried to install the AMD drivers. That was when GPU pass-through support just got added to qemu back in 2016 or so, so I figured it was because the implementation needs time to mature, etc ... but perhaps this is exactly the issue that Nvidia is fixing in their driver? hmmm, i gotta give this windows experiment another try, with both amd and nvidia, just for fun, not that I plan to use it.

Metro Exodus arrives for Linux on April 14

Quoting: CatKillerThere's no real reason why they'd put the Linux version on GOG: they didn't put the others there, even though Linux versions are available on Steam. GOG makes it a pain for devs to manage multiple releases, so quite a lot just don't bother.
Ah, I see. I was not aware of this. Thank you

Aren't all GoG versions of Metro Windows only?
Yep.
Yea, but when they release the Linux version GOG will probably make the Linux installer available too, no? At least that's my assumption... or does GOG not work like this? I'm waiting to see what happens on the 14th, didn't buy it yet since have no time to play it anytime soon anyway :)

FOSS racer Yorg has a new release with improved gamepad support

Quoting: JuliusHmm, that doesn't seem to be the case either. In fact it does seem to be some sort of installation script after all.
I guess it depends where you are downloading from...from their website's downloads, it appears to be an appimage file. I haven't checked itch and indiedb...

Quoting: JuliusHow does the Linux download work? it doesn't seem to be a .tar.gz file or an autoextract installer of some sort.
Hi Julius,

Looks like it's an AppImage. So you would need to install the AppImage service in Manjaro:
sudo pacman -S appimagelauncher

and launch it.

Enjoy!

Building a Retro Linux Gaming Computer - Part 1: Dumpster Diving

I have a system, fully functional, with one of these PIII slot CPUs. The stock cooler was still working back when I ran it as a Gentoo router/vpn some 12 years ago...hasn't been powered on since. Has SCSI adapter and 10GB SCSI HDD. Can't remember which GPU it has, if any. Let me know if you need parts. I'm in Toronto, so if you're from this part of Canada, I can drive it over to you...cuz I'm definitely not gonna power it up for another 12 years but just don't want to trash a fully functional PC no matter how useless :)

Quoting: scaineBack when this PC came out, my only experience of Linux was playing about with LiveCDs, such as Mandriva.
Was it Mandriva back then? Back in those days was when I just got introduced to Linux and Mandrake 8.2 was my first distro. And after some time, Mandrake merged with someone to form Mandriva I think...before they became Mageia or whatever...yea man, definitely been a long time :)
