Australia targets Steam, Roblox and others in new legal push against extremists and predators

So many useless commenters who what to do nothing and expect things to magically change.

Here let me simplify it for you simple minded people...

You can draw hate speech with markers (crayola is NOT responsible)
BUT if you display this hate speech on crayolas website then (crayola IS responsible)

You can type a guide to making explosive suicide vests on MS Word (Microsoft is NOT responsible)
BUT if you publish that guide on the Microsofts forums then (Microsoft IS responsible)

You can make a game about under-age sex (Steam is NOT responsible)
BUT if you publish that on Steam then (Steam IS responsible)

This is about centralized platforms being responsible for the content they host, NOT distributed software in which the USER is responsible. Any online games that are hosted or use the services of said company are responsible for the content of that game as this is publicly available and subject to the same laws regarding content in any public space. This is not the wild west internet anymore, we need rules and punishment for breaking said rules.

I have already finished the game in may and was left wanting more, lucky for bee there is more coming! I 100% recommend even at full price it's got at least 60-100 hours+ of content not including this update.

There exists a word for this SHAREWARE

As per wiki
Shareware is a type of proprietary software which is initially shared by the owner for trial use at little or no cost with usually limited functionality or incomplete documentation but which can be upgraded upon payment.

There are many types of shareware and, while they may not require an initial up-front payment, many are intended to generate revenue in one way or another. Some limit use to personal non-commercial purposes only, with purchase of a license required for use in a business enterprise. The software itself may be time-limited, or it may remind the user that payment would be appreciated.
Those of us older folks know the shareware CDs included with PC magazines.

I don't like this idea of two separate game releases, as they only seem to be rewarding piracy by giving them the full game for free and with their permission to "steal it". If your gonna do that why not release the free version to everyone as shareware and use DLC or a code to unlock the new features and releases?

Quoting: officerniceIsn't there a way to navigate to that page within Steam itself? I cannot seem to find it under the dedicated Steam Deck page (Categories >> Steam Deck)
I commented the link on my profile page to save it for later, no searching needed.

Ubisoft are keeping an eye on the Steam Deck, will release on it if it's big enough

Ubisoft, EA, Epic can all die and rot in a ditch for all I care.

They are a cancer to gaming and have killed all progressive companies, buying up small companies and churning out sequel after sequel of garbage.

Ohh look FAr CrY 5, 6, 7, 8 this one has a hang-glider! The next one has a really bad guy ohh nooo better save another $100 for the slightly different ""NeXt GeN!!!11!!"" game.

EA is rated the worst game developer and Ubisoft is not any better, their game stores have a reputation of being utter garbage and my experience with those platforms either on windows or linux is horrible! Even their support acknowledges the horrible mess that is UPlay and Origin.

The older titles that I do have from EA on steam are broken and abandoned messes, they just extract as much money then 'dump and run' players can get fucked.

While I do accept that developers just want to be paid for their works, it doesn't help them using companies like EA to publish their games, release them and force them to work on the next big game. Gaming capitalism at its finest, gotta have more graphics, more action, more mircotransactions, gotta cost more, gotta be released sooner , gotta make more money.. more more more! Except more creativity..

Anyway, I hope valve do well.

Humble Bundle confirms changes coming mid-July to add a minimum payment for Humble

Quoting: Beemer
"Operational costs, such as the cost of acquiring content, have risen dramatically"
What content is Humble acquiring? They have a storefront where others that make content can sell their stuff. I know occasionally in the past, they've paid to have something ported. Does Humble Bundle make games or other content for sale now?

Anyways - This is a wholly unexpected development. :grin:
Sorta ya,

Humble is a games publisher now.

Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/publisher/HumbleGames [External Link]
HumbleGames - https://www.humblegames.com/work-with-us/ [External Link]

They finance and release indi games.

The Steam Summer Sale 2021 is now live with thousands of savings and a mini-game

I loved the steam mini badge game, good writing and well presented except for the bloody stickers you can't remove from your inventory (ahem.. pigs!).

I bought some classics I have been eyeing off for years;

* Streets of Rage
* Firewatch
* Terraria
* Pilgrims
* Akane
* Zombie Night terror
* Kingdom - New Lands + Two Crowns OST
* LiS:BtS Outfit DLC because why not it's a dollar.

Kingdom New Lands I didn't really want but I wanted to supports devs and complete my collection, the new Kingdom Two Crowns is awesome.
