Lol!! I suggested that like a few hours ago in the comments, and in fact there it is! Good job Valve :D

NVIDIA working with Valve to get Gamescope working on their drivers

Quoting: HoriEven if Nvidia GPUs are technically more powerful (though that's very debatable) it doesn't matter much on Linux if they drivers are garbage.
Nvidia hold people by the balls with Cuda, and the fact they have a huge advance in AI (DLSS) and in ray tracing.

Nvidia drivers have always been "decent" on Linux, I remember the time it was the only viable solution before AMD/ATI opened up the specifications of their hardware and made their drivers open source.

I'm using an AMD GPU and I am very happy about it, I love having open source drivers that work great, and support for Wayland and gamescope.
Although for now I stick with X, games work with XWayland, but Wayland compositors don't yet handle everything that can be done with X, as for instance randr to control monitors (you can with compositors based on wlroots, but for instance kde and gnome don't rely on it), or being able to capture the desktop to stream it with steam link (you can if running steam with -pipewire argument, but then you have to pick which monitor to stream, you can't have all of them), and I really enjoy controlling my computer with my steam controller.

Quoting: MohandevirNice! Looking forward to install SteamOS 3 on my Nvidia PC.
I'm not sure it would be that good, for now SteamOS 3 is pretty much specialized for the steam deck, and although you can use the desktop on SteamOS 3, it's a bit experimental I would say, you would either have to remove the read-only and see your changes overwritten by updates, or install everything via flatpak, which I'm sure has its limitations.

You can use gamescope on a standard linux distro, like ubuntu or manjaro, just fine. You just have to edit the steam options to use it with the games you want

Valve gathering a list of Deck Verified games that have problems

Wouldn't it make sense for Valve to have a report game not working button in the steam deck UI to at least have some statistic of which games should be focused.
They could also have a report game working button for games in the unsupported or unknown category.

GOG Games Festival is live with lots on sale and some demos up

Quoting: PublicNuisanceMight have something to do with idiots issuing death threats to CDPR over the Linux port of The Witcher 2. The Linux community had to learn the hard way that you can't pull that crap while being less than 1% of the PC gaming market and expect to do anything but become ignored. If you want to blame somebody start with the moron Linux gamers who pulled those stunts back in the day.
that just sounds like when there is a minority troublemakers in a pacifist manifestation starting a riot, it's easy to blame the whole group, but it is a mistake.

When you push unfinished/buggy products to the customers, you should expect frustration from them, even more if you do something controversial as using eON, since a game using a translation layer was not as welcomed as it is right now after Valve's Proton.

Humble have a Stand with Ukraine Bundle with 100% going to charity

Quoting: Liam DaweIt's a full charity bundle, completely different to normal bundles and they've always done this for them. Otherwise, people will just pay the $1 to get a bunch of Steam keys to resell.
Careful, very emotional message

They used to show this image

when you tried to pay less than 1$, how cool is this?! I use it everywhere, it's my steam avatar for instance.
I was personally one of those who paid way above average to support the indie devs who supported my platform, out of gratefulness, even though I had very little money as a student. And the fact they gave me the freedom to pay what I want also gave me the will to pay more. It was one of the things I loved about humble indie bundle, I felt respected and trusted.
They now advertise "pay what you want" and put a rather high minimum. That just doesn't feel like "pay what you want" anymore to me, whatever the reason.

They dropped other things that I loved about it:
- DRM-free, mostly gone
- not really indie games supportive anymore, it's just like other front stores for AAA games
- multi platform, completely gave up on that

Those were points that made the very soul of humble bundles, and I'm frustrated that those days are gone, thus my slightly salty comment :p

I still respect the fact it's a full charity bundle, very nice, the games in this bundle are indeed pretty good, although I have most of those already.

Quoting: jrtRemember when you could give 100% to charity on every bundle? :D
Remember when "pay what you want" meant "minimum 1$" not "minimum 30$" ?

Steam Deck Verified has issues, Grand Theft Auto V edition

Damn, seems like you got a terrible UX with it Liam, I've seen many videos of guys playing GTA V on the deck, I wonder if they had the same trouble installing it.
Fun fact, but not on deck, GTA V used to work on proton 7 for me, but was updated recently, and then I got this same error of yours, and only experimental allowed me to fix it easily (haven't tried earlier versions)

Apex Legends gets Steam Deck Verified
9 Mar 2022 at 4:41 pm UTC

Quoting: lugaidsterThe developer had to willingly flip the switch for EAC to support Linux. So... Maybe this is about as official as it gets.
That sounds more "official" than having it deck verified by Valve, but I assume the work done to activate EAC will need to be kept up to date, and the game may not work with future updates of the game.
When did Valve say that verified means they will keep making it working? Verified is just a handy way to categorize which games users can expect to play well on the deck, and how serious it will be taken by game developers depends on the success of the Steam Deck, as it's pushing those games forward to the users.
