Steam Mobile App gets a huge revamp out now for everyone
14 Oct 2022 at 8:24 am UTC

Quoting: MarlockAFAIK there are even provider-agnostic methods for this sort of thing, but anything beyond smartphone as token is a rare beast to see actually implemented nowadays, let alone a real agnostic implementation.
Probably the most widely used one is FIDO2 ig?
But i agree that i would wish more adoption for that - cloudflare is currently giving away a coupon for yubikeys (i'm still waiting on mine though) to get them pretty cheap. In the past i was hesitant to pick one up for 50+ bucks (and you should have at least two to have a backup) with that low adoption, but for 10-20 bucks a pop it's a no-brainer imho.

But at least nowadays TOTP is widely used - i curse the days where many providers thought it was a good idea to implement their own F2A with their own bullshit app. Steam is still one of those, but at least on a rooted phone you can extract the secret and use it in another 2FA app...

Quoting: MarlockIt's a place you can download the apk file (a known good and updated version) manually. If you do that you can install it over the current version. Works more reliably than Aurora.
That much is apparent from the 'standalone apk' part ;)
Quoting: MarlockDoesn't seem to have any auto-update method though.
That is what i was wondering, i'm way too lazy to manually update stuff...what are we, windows users?

Anyone knows if the standalone apk has an updater? Aurora Store being finnicky as it is i tend to avoid playstore stuff as much as possible...

Google gives up on Stadia, will offer refunds on games and hardware

As Stadia being Linux based didn't yield the hoped for increase in (released) native versions, it's not much of a loss in my book tbh. But i must say - it's a nice move to refund everything!

Quoting: Lightkeybut AMD is the one with the IGP advantage.
Not really, seems the iGPU is about 30% slower than the one in alder lake desktop.

The real interesting part is not how fast they will be, but how efficient they will be once limited back to their sweet spot. The 7950 is pushed way to high stock and burns 230w, too. Limiting it to 142w only costs 5% performance, even at 88w it' still only an 18% loss.
Hopefully raptor lake will do better in that regard than alder lake...

It"s just a shame both companies feel the need to push their models over the limit just to have the longest dick on the charts...

Portal RTX sure looks fun, but those prices and TDPs are just ridiculous...
