Embrace, extend, and protect? Microsoft joins the Open Invention Network to 'protect Linux and open source'

Well i'd say their agenda is to start pushing software/OS into the LINUX eco system.
What do gamers want a LINUX distro that can run windows games...
People keep thinking you know f windows lets move to linux, suddenly a LINUX distrobusion made by microsoft appaers that has excellent game compatability has ease of use and does all of that hard to figure out updating and installing of updates for you so you never have to worry about it...
and whats more its LINUX so it must be safe because some of its opensource, and supposedly drm and spyware free.

Never know maybe they know that the eco system is going to change over time and are pre-pairing to start pushing their own shitty drm riddled products onto linux, wouldn't sup prize me in the slightest.

Or even worse their own flavour of linux that supports drm riddled practices.

The Steam Play whitelist just had a large update including The Witness and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
8 Oct 2018 at 5:48 pm UTC

Anyone ever had Wolfenstein the old blood running on an amd card. For some reason the game always defaults to openGL and fails because its missing a gl class. Running a rx470 with 18.2.1 mesa.
Be nice if they said what systems these games were whitelisted against.

Egosoft to launch X4: Foundations on November 30th, hopefully with a Linux beta build
4 Oct 2018 at 7:03 am UTC

Quoting: GrifterWhich order do you play the X games in? I bought X3: Reunion, X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude long ago but never got around to playing them, at the time I was hoping Egosoft would re-release their own X2 first, which sadly never happened. Is it still possible to get a hold of the old lgp x2? Would it even run today? But even if I skip X2, which order do I play all my X3s in?
Well, I'd usually recommend the most recent game first. But most people who hate Rebirth will probably start a flame thread :D .

In all honesty id wait for X4 that way you wont be having to relearn stuff having to deal with changes etc.
Otherwise some variation of X3.

For me at least the story wasn't memorable enough to bother to play all of the games. As in the most general terms the majority of the games are very samey except for a the departure to more of a combat roll in Rebirth.

With the amount of time you can sink into the game, the recommendation is pick the most recent for mechanics, graphics etc.

Battle Royale game Crazy Justice just had an update to the closed beta, we have keys to give away
29 Sep 2018 at 11:46 pm UTC

Well it's more similar "Realm Royale" which is the game that came out a week before they decided to pull the pin on their original release date.

Its got nothing to do with how "realistic" the game is.
Would also like to see a decent BR on Linux, the only reason i brought up the windows games is because that is the market they will be looking at getting the most users from and it is currently getting saturated, the 100 - 200 linux players that will probably get it wont keep the game alive.
And with Fortnight being on switch and being well known it will probably be a hard sell to get people to adopt even though its free.

I'm not even bagging them for trying, I'm just thinking that maybe they would have been better off just releasing the product in its "complete" state before the OMG knee jerk overhaul.

First impression, no-one else in server unable to pick up items.
Random crap popping up everywhere.
The only thing going for this game is cross platform.
Played Ring of Elysium on windows, its way better then this and its free, the BO4 and BF5 BR's will be out end of year, the market is already getting saturated to the gunnels.

These guys should've just stuck with their original design instead of jumping on the bandwagon and effectively killing their game.

An update on the status of porting Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation for Linux
23 Sep 2018 at 6:54 pm UTC

Think last time trying ashes with dxvk was version .72
At least with amd anyway.
on stock default without flagging vulkan so running in dx 11 it crashes while loading.
With vulkan flagged, it just says your vulkan drivers are out of date and you need to update them and would you like to revert back to safemode.

Valve to begin moderating game forums on Steam next week
21 Sep 2018 at 10:20 pm UTC

Be nice if they moderated Early access games that get abandoned.
Only really see this as a way for devs to remove posts that tell people to stay away from their games for very legitimate reasons.

Sure there is some toxic stuff out there, but it's usually triggered by some BS problems in the games to begin with.

DXVK 0.72 is out, bringing more configuration options and game fixes
15 Sep 2018 at 10:32 pm UTC

Just liking the fact more games are playable on Linux, especially ones we know will never get ported.
All I can safely assume these days is if a developer hasn't said anything about Linux then it wont be.
If the game works with proton, great! it will count as a Linux purchase otherwise oh well wine it is.
At least we have more options now!.
