I wouldn't get your hopes up too much...
Hehe, Gearbox could use this as their company motto
Made my day. It's a dishardening fact that this is the truth.

Gearbox Looking At Customer Interest For A Linux Version Of Borderlands

Quoting: FutureSutureHow many of you actually contacted Gearbox in some manner to let the folks there know you're interested instead of just commenting here? If you haven't contacted Gearbox yet, then do so!
Soon as I reddit, I tweeted them. He wanted volume and Ibexpect we should do just that.

Quoting: scaineInteresting though - here's a massive software house, who publish on Steam, who typically launch their Windows games with Mac compatibility and yet Steam Machines were announced last year, while the Linux client for Steam has been around even longer, over a year.

And the President of this massive, Steam-based software house only now is going to raise it internally?

That's... unbelievable.
Yeah, like valve randomly starts supporting linux. They saw a userbase and its taking a long time for others to see it too. Its a little worrying.

This. If you know a bug exists, you fix it or it WILL cause issues futher down the line for other games.

  • Unreal 3 is easy to port (call Icculus if you need to)

  • unreal 3 never had linux port and unlike 4 it doesn't include source access like 4 does. so, yes... this might be a problem. would probably be more feasible to port it to UE4 (depends how backward compatible is, i have no clue)

while UE4 on linux you can track status here
    https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Building_On_Linux [External Link]

    editor is not yet working

one thing is sure, i'd buy linux version of b2 on day one
I made the judgement is that we now have (at least) 2 games ported on the engine and from what I've heard its getting a lot easier to do it. But yes, I would probably attempt to port it to UE4 if possible as well. However I think the engines are built like Valves engines so that despite them being called the same thing, the jump is too great.

However all this doesn't rule out any future Gearbox titles now that UE4 is there.

Not sure what's not to like
    • SteamOS Compatibility

    • Unreal 3 is easy to port (call Icculus if you need to)

    • Userbase is in fine shape, 1.2% of steam, the target market is large.

    • Ports get you a LOT of goodwill from both the users and Valve.

    • You will have GabeNs <3

AMD's Mantle May Still Come To Linux, Despite Other Websites Reports
    14 Apr 2014 at 10:31 pm UTC

Never saw the point of mantle, and makez no difference really if we get it or not. OpenGL is fine really, AMD need to improve their driver to work with linux rather than stuck on it and better preformance will happen.

Ok it is not a realy good game.
Could never, ever get into vendetta. I like my space combat ( used to work on one ) so it needs to be great cause 90% of the fun for me is the combat.

OT: Ubuntu is a great distro for coding actually, be nice if he used it for development as well as testing.
