Phoenix Point is a dark, difficult and exciting strategy game that's very XCOM

If there are only males currently the reason is no doubt that it isn't a high priority right now in the development cycle.
Seriously, though, imagine the shitstorm that would happen if there were no female soldiers.
No way any dev would allow that to happen.

Quoting: BeamboomOk so this is kind of a stupid question I guess, but can you make/recruit female soldiers in this game? I want to make "Charlie's Angels" type teams in these kind of games. Xcom is excellent in these regards :-)I have no doubt there will be female soldiers in the game.

I'm currently playing Wizardry 7 and man did it cost me some effort to not give up 1 hour in.
However, I invested that effort and am now rewarded with a great game - which sometimes annoys me with UI bollocks.
Bottom line being that a great game is worth the effort.

Quoting: GuestAlso the UI will probably be something to get used to again, as we get spoiled these days with great UI :)UI of ye olde titles is a problem, no doubt.

It has serious problems and flaws (development time was at least a year too short), but as was said, it showed like no other what could have been.
You should question your priorities. Do you want to look at pretty things or experience great gameplay?
If it is just the first, isn't that what movies are for?
Or modern games that often omit gameplay for the sake of being extra pretty?
Besides, ignoring the old-games-UI-issues, the graphics themselves are mostly well drawn 2D.
Those look just as fine now as they did all those years ago.
In contrast to 3D, which does not age well at all - which admittedly includes some parts of the "drawn" large images in Apocalypse.

Quoting: 14Thanks for trying it out and writing about it. I'm pretty interested in getting it when it's done. You are ripping yourself of the ability to play the most promising game in the series.
Quoting: GuestContrary to mainstream opinion i don't believe the Firaxis Xcoms were any good. I did get them obviously for lack of too many options but i vastly prefered the earlier Xcoms, with Apocalypse being my absolute favourite and a damn masterpiece of a game.I looked up Apocalypse on GOG due to your strong words, and I just can't play a game with graphics like that anymore.

Quoting: DuncHaving followed Julian Gollop's career since the days of Chaos* and Rebelstar, I have to say it sounds a lot more “Gollop-ey”I think the proper term is Gollopesque ;)

The problem is that purely match-driven online shooters just aren't huge hits anymore.
Just look at the new Unreal Tournament. Playable since years, but barely anyone knows about it. And now that Epic have Fortnite BR, it will probably be silently removed at some point.
Most people want something more from their online shooters than just a deathmatch variant. Cosmetics, ladders, clans, dailies, quests, content, some kind of continuity, you name it.
Developers of games like Overwatch, Paladins, PUBG/Fortnite, APB, etc. have to do a lot more to gain and keep a following.
The time of LAN party games is - sadly! - over. As much of an introvert isolationist I've always been, I always loved LAN parties...
Only Counter Strike is still around, but that is only because it has been since the dawn of time. If a game like Counter Strike came out now, not too many would care.
Other than organizing a few matches of this via communities (Discord, etc.), I don't see why many people would decide to show up or buy this game.
If it had a nice campaign - you know, like ye olde FPS games used to have - things would likely look different.

This has been bugging since years and caused me to practically never use the Steam overlay on Linux - despite how much I love using it on Windows.
Since I basically never use gamepads, anyway, this update is all win for me ;)

Something like a saturation post-effect with a slider in the options wouldn't be hard to implement.

Quoting: GuestActually, why not contact the devs about it?Quoting: Horiyeah, i did it too much, it was a 3 minutes editing in gimp, buy really, the actual colors make the weather like it was about to rain, and the rain while you're at a theme park is not fun at all...Quoting: GuestPlease, PLEASE saturate those colors, it's a park, it's happiness, the sun is shining, blablabla! That would hurt my eyes after a while.
The colours are just fine as they are right now.
if i'll but this, i'll try with nvidia colour vibration setting, really.
