Proton Experimental bumps minimum driver version, more playable on Linux and Steam Deck

Getting Mesa version updated is a tiny obstacle compared to how older Nvidia GPU's aren't supported in 510+ driver series. Kepler [External Link] support ends with 470.

Rather long list of cards but TLDR; Kepler is used in most of the desktop GTX600/700 cards and mobile 600m/700m/800m laptops. Check the link for more info, note that some GPU's in the mentioned ranges are Maxwell instead and are still supported in the 510+ driver series.

Be very careful with your enthusiasm people, remember who you're dealing with here. One step towards a good move does not absolve Nvidia from decades of anti-competitive strategies and shady business dealings.
I do not forget and I do not forgive.

This is positive news, yes... but make sure you read the fine print like has been pointed out a couple of times already in these comments. Not the time to be celebrating just yet. If we're talking about hell freezing over, this is more like the first snowflake appearing in the burning skies with hopefully many more joining soon.

And I'm sure the hack had nothing to do with this at all...

Owners of Dying Light get upgraded to the Enhanced Edition, final patch out now

Quoting: lukas333Is the Hellraid dlc any good?
There's lots of hate for various reasons, but ignore all that hot air and enjoy it for what it is now. A polished dark/magic/medieval/fantasy themed expansion of sorts with tons of new stuff. This is as close as we are likely to ever get to a standalone Hellraid game, and IMHO it's pretty solid.

For a measly 5€, it's definitely worth it. I've spent way more on plenty games that were not even half as good or fun.

Quoting: BogomipsMy Dying Light broke two updates ago. I now have a black and brown screen with the background music.
Three standard things to try:

  • Try adding the launch option -nologos to skip the intro movie, faster loading and can help with black screen/white loading bar crash. (bonus points, this works in Dying Light 2 also)
Right-click on Dying Light in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Launch Options.

  • If using the Linux native version, try the SLR compatibility tool (Steam Linux Runtime) which uses older libraries to help older games work on modern distros.
Find it in game Properties -> Compatibility

  • You can also use Proton to play the Windows version, it likely runs better as well. Also found in game Properties -> Compatibility.

Quoting: Kuduzkehpanwhat about Dying Light 2 Linux version??
Nope, not going to happen. Source: me. ;)

Side note, both [External Link] Dying Light games [External Link] run great with Proton and on the Steam Deck. The standalone multiplayer only title Bad Blood doesn't count, it's dead (and had anticheat).

Hmm. Thinking about the stricter security measures for repo signing and keyring storage, deprecating apt-key, trusted.gpg etc, aiming to prevent a repository from shipping packages that the administrator does not expect that repository to ship.

This almost feels like a tool designed to circumvent all of that.

Quoting: wytrabbitThey're never mentioned when speaking about their subsidiaries games', and they have A LOT of subsidiaries...
They sure are mentioned and well known in the industry.
THQ Nordic was embracing game companies long before they became Embracer Group, as has been continuously reported by plenty gaming news sites over the years. They might not have the notoriety of say, Tencent, but they are definitely not a secret.

Embracer is the best kept secret in gaming
It isn't really though.

I'm a bit concerned what the endgame is for Embracer Group.
