Quoting: charliebrownauI still havent found an easy way to get my R9 380 video card to work correctly in mint or ubuntu or debian

Why does drivers have to be such a chore in linux
While I know how you feel, these days it is pretty easy on Ubuntu/Mint:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:paulo-miguel-dias/pkppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

reboot
I tired 5 different messa drivers and 3 different kernals on ubunutu mate , none gave the same performance as AMD GPU PRO

I am now using Debian 9.1 Mate , it lacks PPA support

Also Ubuntu Mate 17.04 had issues working with my audio interface correctly
it seemed when i was messing around with mesa drivers it resulted in screwing up pulse audio

The only solution I could see to fix pulse audio was to install debian

This thread reinforces what I was thinking about PC gaming lately

PC gaming lacks (Be it windows or linux):-

* Fun arcade 8 player Multiplayer racing games (LAN and online)

* Hardcore rts games with base building with 8 player coop (LAN and online)

* Hardcore tactical shooters without unlocks/ranks/p2p matchmaking with 8 player coop (LAN and online)

road redemption looks like a good rehash of road rash
but they still after 3-4 years doesnt have online mp or lan mp
seems like mp is last on the effort which is odd because
road rash mp was loads of fun back in ipx/spx days

Arma 3 1.76 for Linux is planned, work on it to start "soon"

I love Arma , its great in coop but its always ran like a pig

It always seemed not to take advantage of my CPU
(Intel E3-1230v3 3.3hz that is about the same performance as i7 4770)

Maybe they would setup VULKAN and proper multi core/thread support....

At least they didnt ruin the game with porting it to consoles

The best two car racing games Ive played over the years has been :

NFS2 SE 3DFX edition and Flatout 2

Yet to find a single game as good or better then Flatout 2
no ranks , no story line mode , no dlc/season pass ,
just fast arcade fun racing in 8 player online/LAN multiplayer

Bugbears Wreakfest might of been a solution but after 4-5 years its rather lackluster without any real progress

Ostriv, a city-builder set in the 18th century will have Linux support

Looks interesting

I suggest only supporting it once an linux copy actually exist

Then again Raft bought out an linux edition and then dropped support
so even after supporting linux its not 100% that support is going
to sick around

Is this solo sp only or will it have coop ?
