Latest Steam stable update is live as Windows gets 64-bit

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI don't know how old Windows has to be to be 32-bit.
A better question is how old hardware has to be (x86) to be 32-bit only. AMD stopped making 32-bit processors by early 2000s and Intel shortly after. So I'd say it has to be very old by now. I guess if anyone has such hardware, they could indeed run some 32-bit Linux, but gaming would be the least of their concerns really. I think most distros by now are dropping 32-bit flavors for good, even Debian.

More likely someone running 32-bit Windows is doing it on x86_64 capable hardware, due to some historic incorrect installation. So they can as well install a normal 64-bit Linux there.

Quoting: DevlinI would agree with the "number of users" problem if they only had support for Windows, but they support MacOS too, I don´t think that the number of Linux users are so far behind those on MacO
I agree, I think the reason is mostly historic. They added macOS support when Linux gaming was indeed smaller. Today I'd argue Linux gaming is way bigger than macOS gaming.

It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser"

I'd rather see them replacing Gecko with Servo and implementing Vulkan rendering instead of all this AI nonsense.

Hopefully Servo based browser will become a thing eventually, with Mozilla or without.

I buy games only on GOG lately. I wish it was bigger. Catch 22 creates a problem that their Linux users focus is very minimal, since Linux users are only a small part of their total user base that's already quite smaller than Steam's. That doesn't give them a lot of incentives to back efforts like Galaxy for Linux, which is easy to understand.

The other side of it are developers like Hellish Quart's, who pull their games from GOG, saying that all their users are on Steam. It's very annoying for actual GOG users.

Vulkan-based translation layer for Direct3D 7 on Linux, D7VK has a 1.0 release out now

Quoting: Beta VersionDX7->Vulkan translation layer requires Vulkan 1.3, while you can play DX12 games on Vulkan 1.1 hardware. It's just so stupid.
If developers find it easier to stick to latest Vulkan - it's their choice, no one forces you to use that. I wouldn't call it stupid, quite the opposite actually - trying to lower Vulkan requirements for the sake of old hardware which leads to avoiding some Vulkan features is a bad idea.

Besides, how old is that old anyway? Even GCN 1.0 cards support Vulkan 1.3 (that's from 2012 which is quite old by now) which is basically as old as it gets for Vulkan on AMD at least.

I'm playing Deus Ex: Revision, and it's great. Hard to imagine Aspyr will do a better job remastering.
