"Chinese company from veeery different culture and time zone... They definitely misunderstand something in our Western, over-complicated world..."

Oh, God, people! Don't be so naive! They "poor Chinese people" are clever enough to know what is Bazzite... They are clever enough to use it as advert of their product. And yet, they ignored Bazzite officials comments...

And in the near future - Steam Pocket. The first true Linux phone with decent performance! (of course advertised as only for gaming, so Google should be OK with it... In the same sense like Steam Machine is just Linux PC so Sony and Microsoft also should be OK with it;)

Tense Games accomplishments so far:

* 0 finished games
* 1 unfinished game (early access from 2021)
* 4 announced games for 2024 and 2025

They created separate Patreon site for every game but it doesn't look to be very popular. It will be extremely hard to finish 5 games in reasonable future for small developer/producer...

Acer enter the handheld PC gaming race with the Nitro Blaze 7
4 Sep 2024 at 6:28 pm UTC

Companies like Acer, Asus etc. are hardware makers only. They do not care about OS (except adding their own spying bloatware apps and/or GUI), but they need have support for it.

If device is designed on quite standard PC parts - Win11 will be supported by Microsoft for many, many years.

There is no commercial Linux distribution for handholds with support for many years (except Android)... So the real option for them is just Windows...

Maybe, perhaps someone from IBM/Red Hat should consider create Linux distribution for handholds with long commercial support?

Intel Lunar Lake arrives Q3 2024 as Intel jump more into AI

If I'm not wrong chatgpt.com / copilot.microsoft.com it is website/cloud service. The same like google.com search. It cannot work off-line by design (without downloading all bigdata - so in case of large AI models like ChatGPT/Copilot it is impossible, because it would require download the internet:)

So what is the point for local NPU units? Except of course PR to sell additional fake features, i.e. some functions of website copilot.microsoft.com will be unlocked only when local NPU will be detected, but it is fully artificial limitation - some kind of DRM...

Grand Theft Auto VI trailer is live but no mention of a PC release yet

There is a big chance that GTA6 will not have invasive DRM, because the newest Rockstar games are quite relaxed about DRM.

* RDR - the most invasive DRM ever (console only "DRM";)
* GTA5 - no invasive DRM
* RDR2 - no invasive DRM

I think that with GTA6 we will have the same situation like it was on GTA5 - it will be limited in time console exclusive. The question is how long? GTA5 was released first on PS3/Xbox360, some time later on "next gen" PS4/Xbox1 and only later on PC...

GTA6 is oblivious hardware seller so I'm afraid it will be the same story - so PC edition after PS6/XboXXX... Or maybe perhaps it will be also exclusive tittle for SteamDeck2? :woot:

The Talos Principle 2 from Croteam launches November 2

Quoting: MacabreHeartThat looks amazing. Lack of a native port is disappointing though. The Steamdeck, having an install base of some size, should now be considered a native target for a game like this, especially when you pair it with their history of actually talking to Linux users. Now its not like Proton wont work or wont work well, we wont be able to know that til release, but its still disappointing
It is sad that Croteam did not officially mention that SteamDeck will be supported. But about no Linux native port... Hmmm...

In fact, if I'm not wrong - even Valve is treating third party Linux ports as worse than Proton win32 compatibility layer. I mean SteamDeck "by default" very often choose Proton. If user wants start Linux native port - need manually force it in game properties.

Examples of SteamDeck Proton preferred games:

* Sid Meier's Civilization VI [External Link]
* Mad Max [External Link]
* DiRT Rally [External Link]
* PayDay 2 [External Link]
* ARK: Survival Evolved [External Link]
* This War of Mine [External Link]
* Metro Exodus [External Link]
* Total War: WARHAMMER [External Link]
* XCOM 2 [External Link]

There are no official statement why, but my guess is:

* Linux ports are abandoned much faster than win32 version
* Many times Linux ports have some flaws like no cross-play support or are many versions behind win32
* Linux save games are not compatible with win32 save games, means no support for playing the same game on SteamDeck and then continue playing it on win32 PC
* Valve thanks to Proton could "fix" many broken win32 games by themselves. Fixing broken native games is harder (but they are trying - "Steam Linux Runtime")

Check out the demo for Beacon Patrol based on the popular board game

Quoting: Purple Library GuyKinda reminds me of Carcassonne.
True, very basic "cover" of Carcassonne without rivalisation... Looks like very nice relaxing game for one person, but as multiplayer board game - doesn't make sense without competition between players...

Cooler Master and KFC team up to create a 'console' PC and now I've seen everything
28 Dec 2020 at 11:43 am UTC

Hmmm... I think that they missed the point. "Real" PC game console (Linux or Windows - do not matter) - will be too expensive for "average" KFC consumer.

But... Some potato based PC could be quite affordable (for example based on Raspberry Pi). What is needed? Computer capable enough to start browser - so almost everything nowadays. Unfortunately streaming services like GeForce NOW and Stadia require commercial, proprietary and spying Chrome browser. License for installing Chrome could be probably quite expensive if Google realizes that they could earn on it - probably they will force manufacturer to use not Linux but fully optimized for Google "telemetry" ChromeOS or Android.... Open-source Chromium could be the solution...

Raspberry Pi could handle start some old console emulators plus some small indie games "natively" on Linux. All other AAA games - access via streaming services like GeForce NOW website.
