I got my OLED Deck on Monday... played Fall Guys (Steam version could now become verified, as they added [External Link] Proton Easy Anti-Cheat to the additional dependencies) and The Witness on it so far.
The LCD Deck is of course still awesome, but being able to directly compare both devices OLED vs LCD next to each other, I can see and feel the improvements. Buttons less squishy, trackpads have sigificantly improved, the slight decrease in weight, the longer battery life... and yes the screen of course. Just little improvements, but really well done over all.
Even though I also tested the ROG Ally and the Legion Go, I'd still recommend a Steam Deck. At least for the gaming aspect. Price is unbeaten (though the ROG Ally recently got a price drop) and though even the other two devices do have their unique selling points, regarding the complete package, Steam Deck is imho still the best option.
Increcible how these little PC gaming handheld devices have changed my gaming habits. I'm way less at my desktop now. I even learnt to manage how to play shooters (not in a skilled way though) with gamepad controls, where I thought I'd never be able to play them without keyboard (or MoveMaster for me) or mouse.

Quoting: Steven-KnepperI got OVRAS installed already, but I heard 2.0.11 should fix the 497 error, need to re-test.Quoting: CorbenFor me 2.0.10 gives error 497: "Failed to connect to window manager"I solved that issue by installing the OVR advanced settings.
"Stable" 2.0.8 still works though.
I'm on Mint 21.2

As it's still not working for me, despite that special fix related to Ubuntu/Debian systems... my VR is on Linux now completely unusable.

Does it run for anybody with the native Linux version?
Works on Deck with native Linux (no Proton needed or shown), but on Desktop Linux, I have to use Proton, otherwise I get a missing executable error.

Quoting: EhvisMostly yes, tried stable too.Quoting: CorbenSomehow VR on Linux is currently completely broken for me. Even Steam VR stable. Though Steam VR 1.27.5 boots up, I cannot start any game anymore. Beat Saber (1.29 legacy), After The Fall, Until You Fall, Synth Riders... they all used to work like 2 weeks ago. When I tried it two days ago again, none of the games are starting anymore. Are you on the Steam Client beta?
Haven't tried 2.0.3 beta yet, but the versions before didn't start for me at all.
Hopefully this gets resolved soon, I miss playing VR!

Woohoo! HZD was soo good! Next to Death Stranding and Cyberpunk one of the best games I've played in the recent years. Can't wait to continue the story in this fascinating world.
And I dream about Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain coming to PC (Steam) at some point as well.

SteamVR 2.0 Beta released with a big UI overhaul

From my experience this is caused by async reprojection: the games rendered nicely smooth, just that room (I have Steam VR Home turned off) and the controllers slighty jumping were an issue. As I don't look at the controllers all the time, it wasn't too bad.
If that's fixed now, it would be a great improvement!

Quoting: Liam DaweI actually found with 2.0 that even though I had the old UI, all the flickering and weirdness on it was gone. The flickering/jumping in the chapperone view? Chanky controller behaviour in the game?
