I thought Unknown Worlds did give the development of NS2 to the community? Haven't played NS2 in a while, but I loved it. And the Linux Version did run great for me.
Well, I guess I'm okay with it, as long as it's still running somehow. Though it's pretty sad. I remember vividly this development post [External Link] and was excited about it. That post was also a reason that brought me to Sublime Text...

Hello Games continue fixing up Linux issues for No Man's Sky in Steam Play

It depends on if you like exploring a lot, as imho most of No Mans Sky fascination is coming from exploration.
Also there is a lot of hidden lore, and even more with the latest update, which is not obvious at all. But iirc if you once made it to the center of the galaxy the "story" is over (I didn't complete it yet, so don't take my word for it).

Quoting: einherjarDoes Multiplayer coop work well with steamplay?Yep, Multiplayer just works.
Perhaps it is something that I can play with my son.
Quoting: einherjarIs there any motivation in the game, to do things? Or is it just "Sandbox: Do something or not, doesn't really matter"?No Mans Sky has a story you can experience, and there are certain abilities you can learn and master. To be able to do certains things, you need to e.g. find or craft the materials first, and to be able to get those you need to do other things first etc.

This is so cool! Time to sink more time into it :D
Thank you so much Hello Games.
I'm just wondering though, do they know that lots of Linux gamers are playing No Mans Sky, or did e.g. Valve approach them?

Seems like Discord's new "Go Live" feature is not coming to the Linux version

Hm... Discord isn't that small company any more, that could use the excuse they have no staff nor budget to implement this. Though I'm using Discord in the meantime on a daily bases, probably the amount of Linux (and Mac) users is as small as in the rest of the gaming world. This bumps us down to reality, showing us we still are a too small market to get first class support. Mostly, there are exceptions of course.
Just a heads up, though we can't broadcast from the Linux Steam client, we can use OBS to stream to our Steam profiles: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/broadcast/setting_up [External Link]

That's kinda funny, as they said already with the announcement of Everspace 2 they are going to have Early Access on Steam, but People went like: yeah, sure, and you're still going to be an Epic exclusive.
Well, I can't blame those people, we've been disappointed more than once with promises of Linux support and Steam releases, and then the Game went Epic exclusive -.-
But Rockfish Games wants to build up trust in indie developers, publishers and studios again, they really have the intention to keep their promises. As they have proven already in the past. I mean, no one knows what the future brings... so if they are offered several 10 millions of dollars... who knows, everyone has their price.
From how I got to know RFG and especially Michael Schade, they are keen to try new things (Everspace classic is literally available everywhere!*), but they also know who their fans are and they don't want to lose them.
* Everspace 1 is now called Everspace classic, and the game is available on PC (Linux, Mac, Windows), consoles (Nintendo Switch, PS4, XBox One), each store (at release time: Steam, GOG, Humble), for every input device (Keyboard/MoveMaster + Mouse, Controller, HOTAS) and even for VR!

FOSS voice chat application Mumble has finally put out the massive 1.3 overhaul

Mumble "just" does what it's meant for: voice chat. And that is does brilliantly.
Discord is more like a bit of everything, voice chat, chatting (like irc with channels), video chat, streaming (lately), even game distribution...
I still prefer Mumble over Discord, as I can host it myself, so I have full control over it and nothing is monitored. Also with Mumble I can do a fancy audio setup, where I can filter channels for streaming, when people don't want to be audible on stream. That's just not possible with Discord (yet).
Again it's more like, the right tool for the right task. And Mumble does an awesome job for voice chatting.
