EVERSPACE, a fantastic looking 3D space shooter with roguelike elements coming to Linux

Oh yeah, I'm so looking forward to Everspace! Rockfish are developers from Fishlabs who made Galaxy on Fire 2, which is kind of a lightweight Elite. GoF2 is very popular on iOS. There are some parallels in graphic and sound-design, when watching the trailers ;)
As I only wanted to support this game, when a Linux version is coming, I reached out to them and got a positive answer. As they are a German Developer Studio, here is the google translated (and slightly corrected) answer they gave me while the kickstarter campaign was running (2015-08-17):
I have faith in promises the Germans are making ;)
They just have been to GDC and got a lot of positive feedback about the game, the actual ETA for the first Alpha is end of April. The first version for Linux and Mac is scheduled for Beta. Beta estimated delivery in 07/2016.

So in software development it is of course always difficult with promises, since there can always be unforeseen problems. We have not tried to build a Linux version before, but the Unreal Engine seems to support Linux, so let's go with the assumption that we will not have to contend with too much problems. As the stretch goal has been reached, they will be working on it with a Linux (and Mac) version in mind from the start.
The plan is that with reaching the Stretch Goal we will support PC, Mac and Linux on the first day. If the Stretch Goal is not reached, we still intend to deliver a Mac and Linux version, but we will probably have to wait a little, until the PC version flushed a little money in the coffers. But it will be the first thing after release, which we will be working on.

Doesn't work for me. I have this issue only on my Surface Pro 3 with an integrated intel GPU in the i7, running Ubuntu 15.10 with the neoreeps 4.3 kernel (https://github.com/neoreeps/surface-pro-3 [External Link], which includes all the needed driver patches for the sp3).
But I got already used to it :-/
edit: oh, seems to have worked after a reboot. It looks like it also fixed another issue for me: I'm using synergy (http://synergy-project.org/ [External Link]), and I had to enter the screen twice before the mouse cursor was visible. Now it's visible each time I enter the screen. Cool 8)

Sad news. Did Feral give a statement already? I guess they were already working on the port and found unfixable issues.
Garry Newman of Rust and Garry's Mod regrets supporting Linux

He tweeted the sales per platform here [External Link]. So there might be 8 thousand people who are unsatisifed with the quality and support of the game.
And complaining people can be quite loud, even if they are a minority.
I don't know how they can see those per platform sales, if Steam is showing it to them, or if they can see the downloads or if they have an internal mechanism... probably there is noise on those numbers. Some bought it while they where online with Windows, but want to play it on Linux... vice versa, etc, pp.
Nevertheless, what does Mr. Newman expect from people who bought his game for their platform, but are unsatisfied with it? Especially if the support and performance on other platforms are way better. I find his reason for supporting Linux were right, he posted some thoughts on reddit [External Link].
From my experience, Linux gamers are more passionate about their games, in either praising them or in complaining about them. So Linux gamers will have a deeper impact on developers' memories. In this case I can understand that he regrets supporting Linux. But he has it in his own hands.

Our Linux & SteamOS gamer survey results for January 2016

In Safari on iOS the graph's titles are very tiny. So tiny I didn't see them in the first place and thought there weren't any.
Imho a monthly survey is better than a survey every two months, as it will give more fine grained data to look at over time and in the future. I don't think it will affect the number of people participating.

I'm on a C2Q [email protected] with a nVidia GTX 670 and 8 GB RAM (DDR2 :P). Running on detected medium settings at 1680x1050. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with proprietary divers version 358.16
In the cutscenes I have ~30FPS (not below) and ingame between 30 and 50. Mostly about 40 FPS. Feels smooth all the time, no stuttering. It's very well playable. I'm satisfied with the performance so far.
