I can't believe there are people here defending the spread of misinformation.
The poor "journalists"! How will they eat if they can't get all the clicks by hook or by crook?!

Quoting: Mountain ManI love Civ V. You can find screenshots of strategy games that look at least a little bit exciting. Example, http://masteroforion.com/media/21 [External Link] Anyhow, I looked into this more and have wishlisted it. I never played any of the previous games.Quoting: adolsonThat screenshot doesn't make it look very exciting. Guess I'll have to go find a trailer or something. lolIt's hard to make a turn-based 4x strategy game look "exciting" in a screenshot. Look at the screenshots for Civilization V. It looks pretty dull, but it's one of the greatest games ever made.

Quoting: NyapWell then, I guess I'll be pirating the game once it comes out to show them how I feel about all these delays and stuff. Anyone with me?Yeah! Nothing says "you should take Linux more seriously in the future" like stealing the game and extremely low sales.
Homefront: The Revolution gamespot video looks good, but it will feature microtransactions

Totally different genre here, but Fishing Planet another example of a game with microtransactions, and even premium subscriptions, but it is not pay to win. It is, however, super grindy. Still, if you enjoy the core mechanic of fishing, it's not that bad. As an avid fisherman, I've found it to be the best fishing game I've tried so far, and it fills the gaps nicely when the weather is poor, or I'm stuck at home waiting for the lakes to freeze up (or thaw, when Spring rolls around). I have put around 70 hours in and tossed them a few bucks for my enjoyment, in the form of a month's premium subscription (basically gives a 50% XP bonus and some free licenses and in-game money).
Torment: Tides of Numenera launches in Early Access without Linux support, coming much later

The same thing happened with Wasteland 2, did it not? I backed this because it's Torment... Though I fully expect slight disappointment, as what made the original such a hit was the characters and writing and setting, and from what I've seen, there's not going to be any of that in this new one. I still think it'll be a good game, though, and I very well could be wrong about that stuff.
It is annoying that Kickstarted games go available to the general public earlier than some backers could get the game, but oh well, whatever. I don't Kickstart things anymore, so that annoyance will end for me before too long.

Quoting: linuxgamerWho cares? They said they're doing it, let them do it.Quoting: adolsonBut a Talos update to Vulkan is even better news! I am excited to see the difference.Would be great no question, but who has'nt bought Talos already? From the financial POV it will be much better to focus on the performance of the next releases.

"Talos will support Vulkan on Launch"
SS4 on Vulkan seems obvious, or at least one would hope. But a Talos update to Vulkan is even better news! I am excited to see the difference.

^^ That is making me consider starting over, haha. I'm not too far in, but I had not considered the possibility of not being able to finish the game due to a full squad wipe out.
