That Dragon, Cancer is now doing a Linux release on Steam
19 Jan 2016 at 2:13 pm UTC

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyOnce again you were overrating like usual. None of this was their fault at all.
They literally ignored Linux users for days leading up to the launch, and until the day after the launch... Whose fault is that, Obama's?

Superpowers, a HTML5 development environment for 2D & 3D games now open source

I will stick with Godot for my games, though I haven't targeted HTML5 with it at all - this is likely a better option for people looking for web deployment. I may check it out just to see how it is and recommend it to a friend of mine if I feel it would be easy enough for his experimentation. In any case, the more REAL open-source creation tools out there, the better!

OUYA is blocking a Linux version of That Dragon, Cancer being on Steam

Quoting: ElectricPrism
Quoting: PicoboomI wonder. Has anyone seen the how many Linux gamers there are vs. Ouya gamers? I can't stop thinking, "Ouya? We lost out to Ouya?"
What? Ouya has [1177 games](https://www.ouya.tv/games/ [External Link]) after 3 years being released.

Steam Machines on the other hand have been out for 3 months? And have amassed [1,508 games](https://steamdb.info/linux/ [External Link]).

Also, Ouya is Android right? Meaning using Archon we could probably play and run any APK on SteamOS for OUYA or Android that we could get our hands on.

$ archon-exec my-game.apk

(Bundle in a game-icon.png, launch-my-game.sh and a .desktop launcher and you can add it to Steam Big Picture)

I used my Chrome Developer Console to get the URL of the Photoshop for Android APK and pulled it down with wget and booted it in Archon just fine.
Picoboom said gamers, not games. :P

ARChon info is interesting...

Medieval II: Total War Collection released for Linux & SteamOS
14 Jan 2016 at 5:40 pm UTC

I wish there were a demo* - I am not sure how well this will work in a Big Picture / living room setup with a Steam Controller. Biggest concern being text and UI legibility at a distance. I guess the closest I will get is gameplay videos on YouTube. I'll have to check tonight. This is definitely the setting that interests me the most!

* - I don't want to buy and refund if I don't have to.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleLook, anyone cranky enough to complain about this would probably never have bought this game in the first place.
You must be joking, right? Why, because of the subject matter? So every time someone makes a game around a tragedy, we must allow them to use that as an excuse to screw Linux users? I don't think so. I paid for this game OVER A YEAR AGO and was told there would be a Linux version AT LAUNCH. Like every other Kickstarter project that has screwed Linux users, I think I have a right to be a bit annoyed - especially when the developers were completely ignoring any and all communication on the matter until yesterday.

Initial takeaway: Axiom Verge got robbed, and too many people use Wine.

Medieval II: Total War Collection coming to Linux & SteamOS on January 14th

It wasn't much of a secret anyhow, since it was pretty evident by SteamDB activity that it was happening.

Ten years later, and I can finally try this game!

GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?
10 Jan 2016 at 3:00 am UTC

As a big fan of fishing in real life, Fishing Planet gets a bit of play time each day from me. So does AdVenure Capitalist, but I'm not sure why... I also put a few hours into The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians and love it. I also spent a couple hours in Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, but I'm not sure if I'll continue on or not. And I just started playing Dust: An Elysian Tail.

The open source app for the Itch games store has a major update

Quoting: tuubi
Quoting: TheBossI look forward to using the Itch.io store more due to this, as I hate manually checking for updates and doing them myself, as I have such limited time nowadays.
Speaking of which, I wonder if GOG will ever actually launch Galaxy on Linux. I've been using Steam more and more lately due to the convenience, even though there are a lot of things I seriously dislike about the whole games-as-a-service business model and all the social features I couldn't care less about.
Maybe they're waiting for VP to finish wrapping it with eON.
