DiRT Showdown Looks Like It's Getting A Linux Release

Quoting: ElectricPrismI can't wait for a Burnout Paradise type racing game or Twisted Metal racing game - maybe I should get Distance since it's a little surreal.
What about MadOut or Crash Drive 2?

NEON STRUCT Stealth Game Shows Promising Linux Sales

Loved this game. The soundtrack is typically not my kind of music, but it's excellent and will forever be linked to my memory of this game.

BTW, David replied to another tweet saying that it doesn't take much to make a Linux build, just compile time, basically. So here's hoping he and his brother (J. Kyle, who made Super Win the Game, another excellent game) will continue supporting us for a long time to come! David's new game is a vampire game of some sort, and J. Kyle is working on Gunmetal Arcadia [External Link].

ARK: Survival Evolved Released For Linux, Here's An Early Look & Thoughts
2 Jul 2015 at 1:47 am UTC

I have seen about 5 or maybe more patches come down since last night's beta test. They're working hard and fast, so I hope it'll be playable before too long. I tried one of today's patches briefly, and I had a worse framerate than last night, oddly, but I definitely noticed some improvements. The gamepad support is totally absent, otherwise I'd try messing more with the graphics settings and try playing more.

PSA: don't eat dinosaur feces, no matter how hungry your character gets! I tried because I couldn't find anything but wood, thatch, and feces... It ended badly, as you might expect.

SMACH Zero, A SteamOS Handheld Official Specifications Revealed

I thought the SteamBoy was just a hoax. I'm not confident in this, either. If the best it will do is a few indie games and in-home streaming, I'd rather that Valve just add streaming support to the Android client.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved On Linux, Here’s What I Think
25 Jun 2015 at 8:14 pm UTC

I really like the game, but I wish we had the original(s) too. I always preferred the flat 2D over the non-flat worlds featured in games like Super Stardust HD and now this. Yes, it has the classic modes, but it's not the same. It doesn't feel as vibrant and bursting with particles like the originals. Though that could be just my nostalgia glasses kicking in, I'm not sure. In any case, it's definitely a welcome addition to my Linux game library.

Edit: definitely not just my memory - check some vids on YouTube.

Quoting: aLgodot has been around already for a while... buy yay!
Yup. This is too little, too late for me. If they were like two years earlier with this rather than telling me to "use Windows and export to Linux", they may have gotten a bunch of my cash. But lucky for me, I'm pretty embedded in the Godot camp now, and it's making tons of progress all the time.
Lucky for everyone else too, thanks to your tutorials!
Oh, thanks for the compliment! But there are a lot more tutorials by other people that are more comprehensive and touch on more topics. I only did a couple, and would argue that my gamepad module is of greater importance (at least for now, until Ariel finishes the SDL2-style mapping support).

SteamVR Headset From HTC To Release Windows Only First

Quoting: MaelraneBUT: Valve isn't doing this because they see Linux as the great platform it is, they do all this, because they wanted to break free from Microsoft when the rumors about a (n even more) walled garden aka MS Store first appeared.
Microsoft can still potentially kill Valve business easily (and most probably will eventually try), this hasn't change at all. Windows is already moving from a product oriented business to a service oriented business, which means that services like Steam will be competitors that need to be put down and imagine how easy that would be for Microsoft.
Apparently Valve felt the threat, so it must be real, but I mean... If I'm Microsoft, how do I go about getting the millions of Steam users to leave their dozens/hundreds/thousands of games - not to mention dollars and time invested - in their Steam accounts behind and move to whatever Microsoft's solution is? If Microsoft is to make this kind of a move, they'd better do it fast, before Valve has their own platform out on the market that customers see as an easy jump-to point.

Sony Is Creating A List Of Crowdfunding Projects To Gauge Interest

Kickstarter has, for the most part, jumped the shark. When things like this happen, or that garbage like Thimbleweed Park rolls in the cash while the truly unique and ambitious games get shunned or barely make funding, to me, crowdfunding is dead.

Steam Hardware Pre-Orders Off To A Good Start With 35% Units Sold
11 Jun 2015 at 7:39 am UTC

I pre-ordered one Steam Controller, and that is all. I am in Canada, and our only option is EB Games. I'll buy another Steam Controller (or three) when they're available elsewhere. I just built a machine specifically for gaming, specifically for my living room, during Boxing Day sales, so I won't be buying a Steam Machine for a long, long time (if ever). But when SteamOS is ready to replace my Debian in the living room, I'll jump on that. Needs a bit more work, yet.
