He should have called this one You Have To Buy The Game. Not enough people did. It's so good! One of the few I couldn't put down until it was over.

The Steam Hardware Survey For May Is Here, It’s Not All Doom & Gloom

I run Steam in Big Picture mode and have never seen a survey on that machine. I've got it 3 or 4 times since Steam launched on Linux when running in regular mode on other machines.

Quoting: liamdaweI just hope Feral don't bite off too much. They have a lot of ports in progress.
I wonder the same. Hopefully Feral can offer great support despite all the ports it is doing, otherwise support will be its poorest port yet.
What issues do you have with their existing ports? I haven't run into problems. In fact, their ports, along with Aspyr's, are some of the best we've got.

Legend Of Grimrock No Longer Works On Nvidia GeForce GTX 900 Series GPUs

Quoting: wolfyrionI Am trying to investigate the problem so here are my findings...

so when I run it from terminal I Get:

[wolf@W Legend of Grimrock]$ '/media/ROMS/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Legend of Grimrock/Grimrock.bin.x86'
szCmd: /bin/sh -c '"/home/wolf/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh" steam://run/207170' [External Link]; &
[wolf@W Legend of Grimrock]$ Running Steam on manjarolinux 0.8.13-rc1 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is disabled by the user
/home/wolf/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 710: LD_LIBRARY_PATH: unbound variable

so lets go on steam.sh
# Need to add /usr/lib32 to the library path to pick up libvdpau_nvidia.so on Ubuntu 12.04
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32"

on my path /usr/lib32 I dont have such a file libvdpau_nvidia.so :(
the file is located on this path /usr/lib32/vdpau/

I have tried symlinking files. changing paths etc but nothing

even if delete that line 710 it stucks on line 713
# prepend our lib path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM:$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM/panorama:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"

if I delete that one as well then it cannot run steam :P
Does it work if you change this line:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32"

to include the path you found the lib in?

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32:/usr/lib32/vdpau/"

Quoting: FutureSutureLinux gamers who have an AMD graphics card and are running the open source driver can literally run this game better than me.
While it obviously sucks for those who are suffering from this, I must admit to getting a certain amount of schadenfreude from this. Maybe even a little vindication. ;)
i put a mark on my calendar.. thats the first time i hear that game works with AMD and not with Nvidia!
this day is special i guess.. lets drink!
If this keeps up, I'll make the switch, ending my 14-year NVIDIA-exclusivity!

This highlights one of the bigger issues I have with the outsourcing of porting work. That being said, it appears that it is an issue introduced by NVIDIA - perhaps the devs should reach out to them. If NVIDIA's drivers were open, it would have been fixed months ago, no doubt. Or at least instructions on how to fix could be provided by the community to the devs.

Steam Replaces The Linux Tux Logo With SteamOS

Quoting: maodzedunWorst case scenario - they'll drop official support for Ubuntu, which they won't, especially if Samsung ends up buying AMD.
I guess I'm out of the loop here. What is the connection between Ubuntu and Samsung/AMD?

Quoting: InsperatusThis is also exciting because it (at least symbolically) means Valve is fully adopting linux, the Steam logo now means linux.
Yep! Best to take it as a sign of commitment. It's actually kinda epic, although, I think many people will just confuse what it means, thinking it's just a Steam logo. Hopefully Valve has a huge marketing machine that comes into play later this year and into next. They need to make people aware of what SteamOS is and how to get it and why people would want it.

Steam Replaces The Linux Tux Logo With SteamOS

Quoting: adolsonIt has been this way for a long, long time. Visit Steam in a browser, and it's still Tux.
No it's not, that's your cache keeping the tux icon. Do a hard refresh.
Yeah, I did that, but you're too fast with your fancy fast internet speed.

Still, I don't really care. It's not like the games will stop working on Linux, and Linux itself has a bad rep. This actually kinda makes sense. Would I prefer the Tux icon? Yep. But it's not the end of the world until the games won't run on my Debian.
