Larian Studios Working On A New Game While Divinity: Original Sin Is Still Not On Linux

The throwaway's comments in the screenshots make sense. I'd rather they keep the Linux port work in sync with the upcoming megapatch and not waste what little Linux developer resources they have on backporting their work. It really would be a waste of time.

I didn't Kickstart this, and am glad I didn't. But if they do actually release the port I think I'll have to plunk down some cash for it. This is the way you do it - buy games after they release. No blacklisting required.

Linux Drops Below 1% On The Steam Hardware Survey
6 May 2015 at 8:27 pm UTC

I haven't had a survey pop in a long time, but then I am using Big Picture only and due to the stability of my operating system, I don't have to restart or reinstall very often - maybe that has something to do with the lack of triggering?

On the flip side, my friend reinstalled Windows on his laptop and got the survey immediately. And he didn't even fill it out. I am willing to bet that many Windows users don't bother submitting, because they're more likely to find it to be a waste of time and annoyance, whereas Linux users probably want to be counted... That's just speculation, but I believe it's very likely. And this makes our numbers even more pathetic.

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyWithout crowdfunding, we wouldn't have excellent games like Pillars of Eternity or Shadowrun Dragonfall. So no, I'll keep donating to projects I find interesting.
Then you're part of the problem.

You lose your right to bitch when the Linux version fails to materialize. After all, you just "invested" right? You didn't pay for anything.

GOG Galaxy Arrives In Open Beta, Linux Support Eventually

Quoting: liamdaweI would also much prefer to buy from GOG for their values
If they had valued Linux more highly earlier on, then perhaps things would be different for me. Even now they (CDPR) are too sketchy about Linux (see: TW3), and this delayed client... I see just how much value they place on Linux. It's too little, and it's too late. Steam had me 500 games ago, and unless they make a GOGOS Linux distro, GOG Machines, and GOG Controllers as well as importing my Steam library, things will not change for me. I do wish them much success, and I hope they pressure Valve into opening up a bit more, though it'll take a lot to shake Valve - they're quite the behemoth. A behemoth that seemingly values Linux, though.

Larian Studios Working On A New Game While Divinity: Original Sin Is Still Not On Linux

At the end of the day, I hope we all have learned that Kickstarter is just another form of pre-ordering, which by itself is stupid and very pointless in the digital age, except with the added risk of having paid real money for vaporware. Especially when we're talking about a Linux version. Stop paying for games before they're done! This is the the only lesson to take home from this and other situations like it. The sooner we realize this, the better. Crowdfunding seems like a good idea in theory, and when it's done by responsible parties, it is good. But there are all too often projects like this that fail to deliver or delay delivery for so long that you may as well have never contributed in the first place, and just waited for one of the twenty bargain-bin sales that passed between the Windows release and the Linux port, and you can never tell which company is going to fail you and which will hold up their end of the rather sweet deal they got, until it's too late.

Linux Sales Statistics For 'Among The Sleep', Plus A Small Q&A With The Developer

I kinda regret buying it, since I bought it with the expectation that it had the advertised Full Controller Support. To this day, the X axis is inverted and there is no option to flip, such as there is for Y axis. It is extremely difficult to get used to this, so I just don't bother.

Savage Lands Early Access Survival Game Adds Linux Support, I Take A Look

Quoting: adolsonWould rather play FRONTIERS [External Link]. Just wish they'd fix the gamepad support proper, and maybe put the Tux icon on the Store page so people know it's available.
Ooooh oooh Frontiers! Since when has it had linux support? What do you like about it? Is it buggy?
I haven't put much time into it yet, since I hate playing games with keyboard and mouse and the full controller support is not so full in Linux yet, but I like that it focuses on exploring and story and less on hack and slash. The Linux version has been available on Steam for months now, but "official" Linux support is coming soon.

Shadow Of Mordor Could Release For Linux Soon

AC as in Assassin's Creed? What relevance does that have to Shadow of Mordor?

Sales Statistics For Linux Games From Different Developers, Part 4

Many of the games in this article I don't own yet, but want to. Soul Axiom and LISA for sure, probably Rust. I wish we had more solid stats for big games which launched simultaneously, though with most of the AAA titles coming from porting houses, it may be impossible to get those stats.

I try to avoid Early Access games (there are a few exceptions, such as FRONTIERS), and I'm more choosy nowadays about games without gamepad support, since I built my own Steam Machine (running Debian, though).
