In motion, it looks even better than my hopes from the screenshots!

I'm really looking forward to this.

I sure hope it is resolved, and hope it doesn't happen to any other dev.

I understand your reasoning now but I completely disagree, using market share like that (and a complete estimation of the actual marketshare which is heavily debated pretty much anywhere) should never be used like that.
Sure. Let me just add a coda here that, while I did not use any of our internal numbers for discussion here, we do know how many of our sales come from users who are on our website using Linux, and we were able to draw our own conclusions as to what expected growth we would see after we officially supported Linux--based on our own experience with MacOS--and while our numbers were quite different, the conclusions we reached are the ones I'm giving you.
What incentive do you have to officially support Linux if Linux users are already giving you their money? I know how I would feel if I ran a business and saw Linux users demanding support, yet giving me their money regardless.

Porting Games Over To Linux Using Wine
4 Sep 2013 at 5:58 pm UTC

I hate Transgaming. Sadly, people gave them money for WineX when they should have let them go under. Do they still support their Linux hacks ports? For example, the Kohan games? I don't see them listed in their webstore, and I see nowhere else to buy it these days...

Meanwhile, the one Loki port we got is still in stock (albeit pricey) at TuxGames. I bet if I broke out my dusty disc, the installer from LIFLG would work.

Porting Games Over To Linux Using Wine

It's going to take a very special game to get me to knowingly buy a Wine "port."

The archaeology point is certainly valid, though I can count on zero fingers the number of games I've played in DOSbox.

It's $2.49 on Steam right now... I haven't played it, but I grabbed it.

I also grabbed the original, despite owning the Loki port.

Maybe the numbers would be a little higher if Linux users stopped dual-booting and running Windows games via Steam in Wine.

Also a fan of GDS on Android.. I tried this demo a long time back and liked it a lot. Hopefully they resolve this sooner than later.

While not the same type of game, I'd recommend Knights of Pen & Paper for fans of GDS.

New Wasteland 2 RPG Footage And Linux Release Info

The Shadowrun situation is is all very reminiscent of BioWare/Neverwinter Nights...

I predict a Linux beta 8 months from now with something critical missing, such as cutscenes. Or if there's no cutscenes in the game, combat.
