Company Of Heroes 2 Released For Linux, Port Report & Thoughts Included

I ran some preliminary tests with my R7 370 with RadeonSI. The game works just fine, as in it doesn't crash before or during the performance tests, but the performance seems to be rather low. I set everything to minimum except the resolution and I get 20 FPS average in the performance test. It does run at a fine-ish 27 FPS every now and then during that test though so it could maybe possibly be playable. I have yet to play the actual game so I will need to experiment with that a bit more.

I'm quite sceptical of the game running on Iris Pro though.

Nova Blitz Trading Card Game Might Be My New Addiction On Linux
22 August 2015 at 5:13 pm UTC

I really hope there are going to be random drops after matches or a similar way to gain new cards without paying a ton of money to be competitive. I'm also not really a person that spends a whole lot of money on F2P stuff and making people suffer outright because of something like that doesn't sound appealing.

Decided to bite the bullet and bought the game. You can expect comparative benchmarks in near future. I think the game might also be featured on the livestream (if I can mute the music).

Quoting: PangachatBtw can we expect a Dirty AMD vs Nvidia benchmark Showdown with this game?
I believe Liam did mention something like that on the IRC. I'd gladly run some comparative benchmarks with my 760 and R7 370.

Quoting: aristoriasit is really sad to see the linux world completely focus on nvidia/intel.
We already have an intel monopoly and the same will happen with nvidia.

Introducing the Latest Addition To GOL Cast Hardware: Radeon R7 370 [Updated]
15 August 2015 at 6:34 am UTC

Okay, after some fiddling around I managed to get up-to-date Catalyst on this system. However, the impact was quite minimal and most of the time non-existent. I've added corrections to the article in places that need them and updated one of the benchmark graphs where the update yielded a performance increase. Games like Shadow of Mordor and benchmarks like Heaven were unaffected by the driver update and after the update HL2: Lost Coast started running without graphical glitches but the performance remained the same.

Introducing the Latest Addition To GOL Cast Hardware: Radeon R7 370 [Updated]

I verified the FGLRX version and it's indeed the old driver, not 15.7. That kinda makes the results pointless in that it's not the most recent driver version. However, it appears to be nearly impossible for me to install the 15.7 driver so that it works. I had no luck with the installer and the .deb they provided simply boots me into TTY. I'm not really determined enough to try to figure out what is breaking and where, so I'll just wait for someone to properly package that driver. Maybe the Ubuntu Graphics PPA team will figure something out in near future. If I do get the drivers up and running I'll update the results.

Quoting: GuestVery interesting read, especially the Gallium Nine part.

Quoting: BTREYou should try benchmarking Talos.

Yeah, it's the second (after Unigine) "real" benchmark that is free (available in demo) for everyone. For some reason you will never see TTP on Phoronix...

It can provide some interesting stats too http://steamcommunity.com/app/330710/discussions/0/620696522118520223/?l=polish

PS why FGLRX is slower without tessellation?

I'll see what I can do with Talos Principle. Also, when you look at the graphs make sure to see what the framerates actually are. Even though at a quick glance it might look like FGLRX is slower without tessellation, this is not actually the case. In fact, FGLRX ran about 64% faster without tessellation (77.6 FPS vs 47.2 FPS).
