Proton GE gets some big updates but you may need to remove old Wine prefixes

Great news! Proton GE is very important for many games.
Actually, I think the one thing that the Compatibility tab lacks is the ability to remove/reinstall prefix directly from Steam. Hopefully it will be added sometime in the future.

I actually had this game on my wishlist, because the idea seemed interesting, but, luckily, I didn't get it.
Given this news what I'm going to do is just delete it from the wishlist and forget all about it.

Jazz-punk adventure Don't Forget Me releases on April 20

I really enjoyed the demo, despite it being very short.
While it seems like a typical dystopian future story, the way you "hack" into memories using keywords is very interesting.
It's already on my wishlist.

If On A Winter's Night, Four Travelers - probably the best free game you will find today

Looks like something I would definitely like playing. Thanks for the recommendation!
Regarding the multi-monitor problem, I experienced it with some old games and I was able to solve it using Lutris.
If you go to Configure -> System options -> Turns off monitors except and choose the monitor you want to use for the game, it will run correctly in full-screen mode using only that monitor.
I used this configuration to play Wizardry VII (yes, I'm an old school guy, heh).

Sci-fi adventure taking place on an abandoned Earth, Mutropolis launching Feb 18

Seems like a nice adventure game. The visual style reminds me of Broken Age, a Double Fine adventure game I enjoyed a lot.
I played the demo of Mutropolis last year, but it was so short that I couldn't form a proper opinion about it.
Anyway, it's already on my wishlist.

The Linux distribution I was most thankful for in 2020 - EndeavourOS

I really loved Antergos, and it was a pity they had to abandon it.
After finally trying EndeavourOS this year, though, I can say that it's currently one of my favourite Linux distributions for advanced users (along with Fedora).
I use it with Xfce as desktop environment, and generally I'm very happy. The only problem is HiDPI support. To the credit of Xfce team it got a lot better this year, but it's still not as seamless as in GNOME: there are some things you have to tweak yourself.

The best Linux distros for gaming in 2021

Quoting: RoosterSo why would you say Ubuntu is safer choice for new users than Endeavour or Endless OS?
Most of my reasons are actually the same Liam mentioned in this article:
1) There is a lot more info out there to help you solve whatever problem you may face (e.g. AskUbuntu is a great resource that helped me a lot in my early Linux days).
2) Almost everything a beginner level user may need is already in the official repositories.
3) Most of the game developers or porters (Feral Interactive, for instance) ONLY officially support Ubuntu. So, if you have any problem running a game, you can expect to be able to contact them and get a response.

Don't take me wrong: I love EndeavourOS, but I won't recommend it to new users. I showed it to my wife, who has been using Linux for several years now, and she prefers to stick with Linux Mint and Ubuntu.

I agree with Liam's recommendations for newer Linux users. Ubuntu is a pretty safe choice.
For the experienced users, though, the choice of OS or DE is more a matter of personal preference.
E.g. I use Ubuntu and EndeavourOS on my main gaming PC, but I also use plenty of other operating systems, like Solus or Fedora, and I wouldn't deem any of them as not gaming-capable. If you keep your drivers up-to-date, you are good to go.
Still, there are always some games that don't run properly on one OS, but work perfectly on some others (e.g. some Total War games). That's the reason why I have two operating systems installed on my gaming PC.

Standalone Steam Controller driver and UI 'SC Controller' gets a sweet small upgrade

Quoting: EagleDeltaI found the source: https://github.com/Ryochan7/sc-controller

Thanks!
I believe it's the same Python 3 fork (not 100% sure, though), but there is a more up-to-date version in the repository you've found.

Standalone Steam Controller driver and UI 'SC Controller' gets a sweet small upgrade
14 December 2020 at 8:37 am UTC

Quoting: EagleDeltaMy main point being is that even with a Snap and AppImage, I either can't get it to run on Pop!_OS 20.10 or, when it does, it can't detect the controller. And I can't install the package via PPA as it requires Python 2 dependencies that are no longer included since Pop!_OS 20.04

Apparently there is a Python 3 fork of this software. They mention it in this thread.
I tried that AppImage on Ubuntu, EndeavourOS and Fedora, and it not only runs, but also detects my Steam Controller.
Keep in mind, though, that I wasn't able to find the source code of the aforementioned Python 3 fork on GitHub, so I don't really know where it comes from.
