For anyone installing on Arch, there is now an aur package - ue4-git.
It builds in /tmp so you may need to remove your tmpfs restrictions. The folder needs about 20gb of room.

So, how much are the current console gen at the moment? These are a bit expensive, perhaps prohibitively so.
One thing I've not thought of before, but often the reason that consoles are the price they are is because they are sold at a loss. When you have 1 company selling the machine AND the games then you can push out the machines at a loss to ensure a large market for the games. That sort of logic isn't going to apply here.

I don't really care if Steam uses a steamos logo rather than the tux, it means exactly the same thing essentially.

Quoting: liamdaweAspyr already do this, try to get support on an Aspyr title when you use Mint like me for example. Their reply is they only support Ubuntu and SteamOS.This is exactly what we wanted though, was it not? The old fragmentation argument, that so many developers used as a reason not to support Linux has no weight anymore, thanks to the stated support of one or 2 distros.

Total War: Rome 2, announced again. I think I used to be excited at that prospect.
Witcher 3 and Shadow of Mordor on the other hand, now that has me excited.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI wish they would stop including SSDs in these Steam Machines. Although SSDs are nice, if they want to compete head-to-head with consoles then needlessly adding an extra £50-100 on a hard drive seems completely ridiculous and will probably push the price past that of the PS4 and Xbone. An SSD of this size is going to be pretty cheap and when you consider the performance improvement you get from using one over an ordinary HDD then I'd say it's worth it. It runs a lot cooler too, which in a small form box, that's pretty important.

I'm also pretty hesitant to back the game when Linux is a stretch goal. Having to pledge an extra $150k for cross-platform compatibility doesn't really fill me with confidence that it would be finished soon after the windows version.

Quoting: GuestLovely work on the graphs guys!I would have also given that answer as it's been a rule I have (mostly) followed for years now. Ever since I bought GTA4 on release for windows. As far as I know it still runs like crap.

I don't buy on pre-order or day of release to avoid these issues.
