Nice, I miss it when some devs released their source code. Now with proprietary middleware licenses, you can't really legally do that. I wish it was like the days of Id Software where they owned their tech, gave their source code under a free license, but they offered other companies with "Hey, if you don't want to comply with the GPL, make a deal with us and we'll give you the pre-GPL code".

Graphics in open source games are 10 years behind. I'm also not too big into the gameplay from Quake clones because I already have my Quake fix, I have Quake 1-3 and Openarena, we don't need anymore Quake clones.

Quoting: micmon>> expect to release sometime in 2017It should be same day release. Most of the games that are taking a while to be ported to Linux use in-house engines. Bloodstained will use Unreal 4 and it will just be a simple export.
Well let me translate that for you: it wont be released before 2018 and for the Linux version you will have to wait until 2019...

Quoting: edgleyEh, another multiplayer only shooter. Not excited to be honest. My problem isn't a multiplayer only shooter, I would love to play Titanfall because it looks like fun. I've played Evolve and it's boring as hell. You're either over-powered as the monster or bored looking for it with no action because the monster is very far away. I'd rather play Trouble in Terrorist Town for online detective gameplay, it's more fun.

Quoting: subI loved the classic Mega Man games.
But graphics and gameplay of this new game aren't my cup of tea.
To be honest graphics look uninspired and awfully passionless to the point
where it is a shame if the really made $4 million on Kickstarter alone.
Sorry.
Quoting: omer666Sorry guys, I think that's Nostalgia talking, they were all good and I like the alternate direction they went with Battle Network. Their experiment in Random Encounter real time combat grid based RPG with turn based elements worked very well. Here's a little experiment, find a 10-year-old kid that love Minecraft and Five Nights at Freddy's Megaman Classic, Megaman X and Battle Network and S/He would say they're all great and they're different games. S/He would tell which game they liked better, but say they're all great but might compare Megaman Classic to Megaman X and say Megaman Classic has more primitive controls than Megaman X, but I bet they would have a blast with either or. I would of put Megaman Legends in there for further comparison, but I never played it.Quoting: CybaCowboy(though I've never played the "Mega Man X" games, which are supposedly much better than the originals).Allow me to disagree! I think the very best Mega Man were released on the NES and the B&W GameBoy. Mega Man's famous gameplay truly unfolds when you keep it simple, really, that's why all 3D adaptations failed. Mega Man X was really great graphics-wise and story-wise, though and the spin-off Mega Man X: Command Mission was a true gem.
This aside, I'm really looking forward to playing this on my rig!!!

Steam Officially Starts Allowing Paid Mods In The Workshop, People Are Upset

I have no problem with paying for mods, but I think this will open the floodgates to really bad micro-transactions. I have no problem with paying $1 for an item or weapon mod that's not lore friendly, but is from another IP. I'd pay $1 for a legal Buster Sword in Skyrim, I would also pay $30 for Morrowind Overhaul and I feel like I should be donating money to Scrawl from OpenMW or Sven for his work.
An Update On The Open Source Project 'Xoreos' Concerning The Witcher

Well done Sven! That's good to hear you're making progress! This is a good milestone. (even though there is still much to be done) Hey, even if they used LuaCOM, it won't mean it would be impossible to do a reverse-engineer port of The Witcher to Linux, it will just mean there would be extra work involved replacing it. It will be like the AGS Engine, It's been open source forever, but it was dependent on a couple Windows exclusive functions and they finally replaced them but it took a while.

Quoting: DrMcCoyI tweeted at them [External Link] a few days ago about GNU/Linux support and middleware, but have been ignored so far.Well, middleware is very convenient to use. Back in the 90's, it was more convenient to have your own engine and tools. Maybe if somebody offered them use of an engine that's easy to use as Unreal and had all of the features they needed and allowed them to open source it if they wanted to, things would of turned out differently. Descent 1+2 were set free because the devs felt like it. They can't really do that if they wanted to with Unreal :/
