Fedora 33 released with lots of improvements to the Linux desktop

Quoting: dpanterBTRFS as default on a desktop distro... guess we'll find out how that experiment turns out before long.
It's been stable for every day use for a while now. It's just the whining of edge cases users and the anti-Facebook crowd has been drowning out it's achievements. If all goes well we'll see the other big distro switch as well.

For you. Not for me. The ethos of a company, its ethical stance, and its impact on fostering a cultural shift to open methodologies is the single most important aspect of choosing my hardware. Then it's performance, then it's heat/noise/efficiency. Finally, its price comes into consideration.

It's weird to me that you're commenting on a Linux site and don't understand this, or somewhat buy into it. But I suppose as Linux increases in popularity, there will be more and more people like yourself who don't care about open standards (or least, care as much as others do).
I'll buy a AMD card when they have working Linux drivers available at launch. I'm not waiting six months for the Mesa guy to get their new cards working when Nvidia has Linux drivers available for their new card on day one. I'm not supporting a company that treats my OS of choice like a second class citizens.

Wow, intelligent comments on a news story about a pre-built computer. You won't see this on Reddit, YouTube or Twitter.

You can now order a PC case that looks like the classic Commodore 64

This looks cool but I would kill for replica Sharp x68000 case. That case is f**kin beautiful, lol but to fit a ATX Mobo you have to chop the internal to pieces plus the shipping from Japan is outrageous for something I might screw up, lol.

SteamTinkerLaunch is a huge all in one Linux wrapper tool for gaming

Quoting: DMGI watched github page and not really sure, how simple that too is for regular user. Does it sets best settings for every game by default or it just gives option to set everything on my own? Because from screenshot of settings it looks so complicated
One of the biggest challenges for seasoned Linux users is to place oneself in the shoes of a new comer that's also a Windows refugee. What is "simple, handy and easy" (*just a few commands on the terminal*) for us, might be a set of total deal breakers for a "normo" to start with
Designing a tool like this for new Linux users would be a nightmare and make zero sense. I say that cause this isn't a tool for the average Linux gamer. It's a tool for advance users and guys who are already using these add-ons.

Open source voxel game engine Minetest has a new release

Quoting: LemosbashTested this game a little bit, people really underestimate it, it's not minecraft, even though it's similar, we should not expect a minecraft 2 from it, this game is great, and i see MUCH potential in it
And that's what keeps Minetest from going mainstream. The lack of a base game mode that plays like actual Minecraft.

AMD detail future plans for socket AM4 and Zen 3 compatibility, no Zen 3 for older chipsets
15 May 2020 at 2:50 am UTC

Quoting: subI bought a B450 not too long because every "expert" out there claimed AMD will definitely support it with at least Zen 3. :/
Those AMD experts led many down that path. They just knew AMD would support Zen 3 cpus on b350 and b450 boards based entirely on comments made years ago. So they spread this fact everywhere and to everyone looking for upgrade advice. The hoops board makers had to jump through to get Zen 2 cpus working on some b350, b450 and x370 boards should have told them that future cpu support isn't 100% guaranteed but AMD could/would do no wrong.

It doesn't have the scripting features of Lutris. This is just a basic frontend for emulators and Steam.
