I guess no one here ever watched his videos seeing the reactions.

AMD releases the Radeon RX 6950 XT, RX 6750 XT and RX 6650 XT

I don't know ... I'm not interested anymore. Prices are always given in $ for the USA, and it's always way more expensive when we get them here. And VAT alone can't explain the difference. The cheapest 6950 (for example) I can find is 1500€. As long as prices in Europe keep being so much more expensive than MSPR, I don't think I buy anymore "gaming" component.

Lutris version 0.5.10 brings improved Steam Deck support but no Flatpak yet

Yeah, cool but, as always, that's third parties that comes to compensate what the main project lack. That model is getting a bit tiresome because more often than not these third parties doesn't integrate well with the main project and add their own set of shortcoming and problems to the stack.

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualFlatpak tackles some long-standing distribution issues with GNU/Linux. It's not perfect, but something like it needs to exist in the future in order to deal with these problems that simply don't exist on macOS or Windows.
So do the "others". And each one of them have their own set of good and wrong. The one I had the least problem with is AppImage, and I don't particularly like it, it has plenty of design problems but each one I tried worked flawlessly. The one I want to try the most is Flatpack but each time I tried it was a huge pain in the ass to set up, didn't understand how I should do it, and it keeps throwing errors at me. Their doc makes it look easy, but when you get errors, you are on your own and good luck to find what they mean. And it seriously lacks a GUI to make installation fast and easy.

GOG Games Festival is live with lots on sale and some demos up

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualDespite my complaining, I'm happy to hear more about GOG.
Don't get me wrong I like to hear about GoG, but lately news haven't been really positive overall. And I fear they wont be positive ever again. Also, I may be a tiny bit tired of their constant nagging via mail with their "super-duper sale just for me, and it's only going for a limited time".

Quoting: NociferCan't say that I disagree with you much, but on the other hand, there is really not much else to be discussed about GOG and Linux, is there? I guess we could just call the case closed and stop writing comments altogether, but then what's the point of coming to the comment section in the first place?
Maybe the ultimate solution would for GoL to stop promoting GoG. I know it's kind of a hard thing to do devs still offer Linux builds on GoG after all. But to me, it feels like less and less Linux users want to hear about and buy from them. So what's the point?

Luxury, I say.
Back in the old days, we had to play against hackers all the time, and win anyway.

And we had to clean the mouse ball with alcohol. And all those skyscrapers over there were just a bunch of huts.
And you try and tell the young people of today that, and they won't believe you.
Back in my day we had an admin in each server playing along with us who would just boot the haxxors out on sight and ya know that form of "anti cheat" has simply never been topped.
I remember that time, I actually was that admin, we also had websites where we could share our ban lists and reason for said ban. Since games have started to remove that power from the community, I played less and less multiplayer until I completely stopped some years ago.

I also remember when I installed a server side anticheat plug in for SourceMod. It worked real well, so today when I hear people making dubious excuses to not use server side anticheat I'm a bit concerned.

Two years on, Stadia seems to have no direction left

Quoting: RandomizedKirbyTree47IMO, they would have done a lot better if they clearly advertised from day 1 that you don't need a subscription. The fact that so many people were confused about the cost lead to fewer customers buying in initially, and that led to a loss of AAA publishers porting their games.
That definitely played a bigger than anything else! I'd like to remind you guys how if I was not reading GoL and if Liam didn't correct me on that, I still would be thinking that you require a subscription to Stadia to access your games.

And that only because of a badly worded front page in French (and maybe other languages) that made you think you would need a subscription.

You can also add to that the ABYSMAL marketing campaign for Stadia. Outside of computer news or some gaming publication, Stadia has been basically unheard of. The average people never heard of Stadia.

Quoting: DerpFoxThe Index as impressive as it is in terms of tech. It was (and still is) way overpriced in the current VR market.
They can't even supply the demand, so you're obviously wrong here.
That absolutely mean nothing.

That depend entirely on their manufacturing capacity. For all we know, they could only be able to make a dozen a day.

I would agree with you if they were more ubiquitous, but they aren't. Look, last gen console and graphic cards can't supply the demand either, they have been out for less time than the Index, and I've seen a number of them. Outside here, steam and VR specialized YouTube channels, I've never heard of anyone owning an Index. Even Oculus had supply chain problems when they launched the Quest 2 and I know around 20 people owning one, and here it's not considered cheap.

At a moment, you have to face the reality and realize the Index is not the success you want it to be.
