Quoting: a0kamiHow's radv doing around this lately for rdna 2 ?
Do you mean Ray-Tracing in general? Not bad actually. Last time I tried Quake RTX on a Radeon RT 6900XT, performance was around ~30fps.

Quoting: F.UltraFor games where you can choose between DX11 and DX12, is the performance differences between DXVK and VKD3D wildly different from game to game or are there any consistent trends?
In the case of the games I tried, either DXVK or vkd3d-proton (with no RTX enabled) don't make any significant difference in terms of performance.

Manjaro here. I found both of them in: /usr/lib32/nvidia/wine/

Tried now with The Ascent [External Link], and it does not look bad at all:

I could not figure out how to enable DLSS and NVAPI though. I'll do further experiments in the next days.

***Edit: made also DLSS work, earlier than expected. I had to put all the rebuilt libraries in the executable directory:

And then use this launch command:

WINEDDLOVERRIDES="dxgi,nvapi,nvapi64,_nvngx,nvngx=n" PROTON_LOG=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_DEBUG=none mangohud gamemoderun %command%

In this way, the DLSS settings finally appear in game:

And the game has a good performance overall:

To enable it you need to set PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1, which you can do as a Steam launch option for games like PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command% (right click -> properties -> launch options).
Tried it all day long yesterday with mixed success. Works perfectly in this game:
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (Steam version)

Does not work at all for me in the following:
  • Control (Dx11/Dx12 - Steam version)
  • The Ascent (Dx11/Dx12 - Steam version)

Has anyone tried with any of the games above?
How did you get DLSS to work on Cyberpunk 2077, i tried with experimental proton version and the launch option but it still only has off as an option.
Made several attempts: deleted the prefix, take all the variables in the Launch Options off and then on again, and relaunching the game at each attempt.
Currently I have the following Launch string:

PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartScreen

Outcome is a little meh though:

Edit (6th Oct): after downloading Ghostrunner GOG Version (redeemable for free via Twitch Prime), DLSS works also there for me. I have just downloaded, built and deployed the latest master branch of dxvk-nvapi [External Link] and followed the instructions there.

Good to know. I'll try it with some of those Metal Gear Solid HD editions for PS3, which several Kojima fanboys among my acquaintances strongly recommended me to play.

The Valve Steam Deck, lots of excitement and plenty to think about for Linux gaming

Quoting: Sonatawill definitely buy one not only because it is a nifty device but in the hope it will further gaming possibilities in Linux. Valve is a company after all and money speaks for itself there.

If the product succeeds it most likely will be a major boon to gaming on Linux and me buying one is maybe a minor way to ensure that it does.
100% agree on it. I'll try to preorder one for the same intent.

I honestly believe this is the kind of investments we need in order to let the Linux PC Gaming grow. Honestly, in the recent years, it felt we were at the point where the market has to invest in the technologies we are believing in.

Concerning the price, I don't see it either as a bad one. In the end, even though the Nintendo Switch costs less, you have to buy those games, which repay part of the cost of the console manufacturing. This does not apply for PC games.

Looking forward to see your tests, Liam! :smile:

Quoting: scratchiThis looks great! But if they don't sell it through retail channels like Gamespot, ebworld, Bestbuy, etc., it won't turn the tide against consoles and Windows. Hopefully if online sales directly from Valve are successful, they'll sell these in brick and mortar stores too.
Yes this is exactly my concern. The initial sales trend would be pivotal. In the meantime kudos to Valve for investing in an integrated gaming ecosystem.
