Humble Indie Bundle 13 - Hits A Milestone As 100 Linux Ports Reached
29 Oct 2014 at 4:31 pm UTC

Yeah, Risk of Rain's a bit borked right now. Apparently it's due to an engine change and the dev's aware, but won't be able to fix it until the weekend. I can play it, but I can't choose other characters and the XP system is bugged so it's very hard to level up; if you play expect a challenge! :P

Dead Island Zombie Game Now Available On Linux For Some (updated)
24 Oct 2014 at 1:03 pm UTC

I feel like it's too early for this article, as it will probably lead to a lot of people buying the game and not being able to play it.

Anyway, pretty excited; though I'll be annoyed if they haven't added an FOV option by now.

Quoting: wolfyrionMy opinion is that these games should be FREE, it will be good for the new generation to be able to play these kind of games and see how good games were done and also experience the games of what their fathers were playing when they were at their age.....but yeah everyone needs $$$$!
Good news! Dragon Sphere is free, on GOG. It also comes with the manual and OST. Not really sure why anyone would pick it up on steam

Quoting: HadBabitsI haven't really bought much from GOG, since there's not much of a selection. I was hoping to see Dungeon Keeper or the Thief series, but no sight of them yet.
Do you mean these games?

Xbox One Controller Now Works On Linux (Without Vibration)
8 Oct 2014 at 9:13 pm UTC

I tried the XBone controller at Best Buy, and I have mixed feelings. It felt a bit strange in my hands, though I might just not be used to it. The sticks are a bit small, not sure if that has any real advantage/effect. The D-pad has improved, but it's still a bit floaty for my taste. Overall, I think I'd have to play with one more to get a real opinion, but it definitely didn't astonish me.

I haven't really bought much from GOG, since there's not much of a selection. I was hoping to see Dungeon Keeper or the Thief series, but no sight of them yet. Right now I think Humble Store is the best DRM-Free game shop for Linux, especially since they usually come with Steam keys.

nothing forces to improve or innovate if theres no competition
You’re wrong.
Stan, please don't call people out as being wrong without at least explaining why you feel that way; otherwise you're not really contributing to the conversation. I'm actually quite interested in why you don't seem to like competition. As long as it's fair, I think competition is really good for consumers. It means that they have a choice, and that services like Steam have to keep improving if they want to keep their customers from migrating to pastures new. After all, that's why I left Windows for Linux in the first place :)

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel New Video, Pre-orders Available
6 Oct 2014 at 7:35 pm UTC

I was hoping they would revamp the clunky interface (or at least make it more mouse friendly). All in all, it seems like more Borderlands with more content; which is what they do best. However, I don't see it demanding to be played any sooner than the rest of the extensive BL2 content making it worth it to enable pre-order culture. That said I'll probably pick it up down the line :)

Steam Hardware Survey For September 2014, Linux Rises

Quoting: psyminLinux users are also potentially more privacy conscious than the general population so they might refuse to send data to Valve. In my humble opinion anyway ..
Not sure I agree there. I feel like Linux users who would care more about sending anonymous info for the survey than growing the number of visible Linux users probably aren't using Steam in the first place.

edit: Also, in the past 2 years I've been using Linux (and Steam), I've only seen the survey once.

We are streaming Borderlands 2 (Updated with VODs)

That was fun; I'm glad I got to join in :)
