THE GAME DOES SAY EARLY ACCESS IN THE DESCRIPTION ON THE EGS STORE AND AN EARLY ACCESS FAQ AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. Just one Google away, guys.
As a Super Giant fan I'm also not getting the big issue here. I listen to a podcast, No Cartridge Audio, where one of the hosts has occasionally given an update on the fun they've had with Hades; and the large content updates by Super Giant. This isn't an incompetent developer struggling to complete a project and grifting their users in the process. It's a skilled veteran taking a different approach to their development. Chill out.
No one's happy about Epic and their disruption tactics, but I won't begrudge a developer for taking resources available to them; especially when I can buy it from my store of choice after it's come out in full.

Steam Play arrived on Linux one year ago, some thoughts

I'm not well versed on Stadia's technology, but from what I understand it could steer devs toward Vulkan and benefit Linux gaming is less clear ways down the road. It's also a game-streaming service from Google, and those factors raise red flags with a lot of people.
I'll never assume Valve's motives are altruistic; They are big company who often fail to communicate with their users. But my biggest grip with their actions is often inaction, and I appreciate the transparency in how Proton mutually benefits both us and them.
Whereas Google is a nebulous titan (or perhaps demi-titan, if we take Alphabet Inc. into account) that many don't trust at all, myself included.

Quoting: subWhat I don't get is how many people that celebrate Proton, categorically reject Stadia. The big difference for me is that Valve is actively contributing to WINE and related open-source projects and make it so much easier to run windows software from my preferred OS. It's a basically a win-win for everyone.
Imho in the end it's a similar thing; you're able to play games that are not natively available.
For Stadia it's even the case that it might help the Linux infrastructure and raise acceptance among developers.
On the other hand, every game that runs through Proton is also at least indirectly supporting Windows as a platform. I'm quite fine with this. Others may not.

Psyonix are removing randomized loot boxes from Rocket League

Various fields, architecture, culinary arts, um, regular art, put value in presentation and aesthetics, so why do we assume cosmetics to have absolutely no effect on a game?

Quoting: ObsidianBlkJust to play devils advocate here...Good post, Mr. Devil :) And aside from the content-to-money ratio I think there's another factor often overlooked with cosmetics: Social value. These games are made with socializing in mind, we're social animals and games are an effective way to connect. Being able to express oneself in a social setting does have a value of its own, which will vary with the player. Not to mention the value of self expression in itself. I'm very solitary when it comes to games, but I still find appeal in customization in a lot of games, even if I wouldn't necessarily buy them. (Obviously some don't care at all, but that doesn't mean nobody cares, and said bodies do have an effect on the industry)
Cosmetics are not ok

If it was just the cosmetics I could accept that; they've been going for a while and you need to support the servers and devs, etc, etc. However they also sell DLC cars which have different hitboxes and stats, meaning they directly affect gameplay in a multiplayer game, so that's a bit dodgy. Edit: Apparently this was incorrect. Here's a [post [External Link] on the subject if you're curious]
Either way, getting rid of the predatory randomization is a big step in the right direction, and puts them ahead of a lot ""AAA"" games: I'd give it a solid B :P
Edit: Actually, let's make that a B- for having the gall to put in loot boxes in the first place

Sunless Skies has added the important feature of tooting your horn in the latest update

Also, I'm annoyed that the Linux bugs remain: Opening a window of 0x0 on a fresh install and graphical corruptions without an opengl launch option; surely they could've fixed these by now?

I'm glad they've finally put it in, it was an odd absence. Surely when you design a game involving flying locomotives, TOOT TOOT is one of the first things you write down on the white board :P
In all seriousness, I do think it's a nice feature to have. It's like jumping in FPS games: It's often not handy, but it gives you something to do if you're wandering about.

I love how well this game ties into the various "Lo-fi beats to chill/study/smoke/etc to" videos I've seen around Youtube. The image will often be a looping animation of a person in their bedroom doing something peaceful. What's more, I've noticed the comments are often full of people airing their sad or stressful situations, and people reply with messages of support. It's a wholesome idea, and I could go for some wholesome :)

Glad people here in the comments are more on-the-ball today than I! I did have an initial reaction of "Oh, that's logically reasonable, I guess?", but of course anyone can make a convincing BS argument out of actual facts with the right spin or avoidances. Basically, the only way his argument works is if his store did just have better terms, like the higher profits share. Unfortunately, he's also buying up exclusives, many of which were set to hit Steam in a short time, which is pretty obnoxious cash flashery and doesn't really cause healthy competition; unless you enjoy the 'console war' variety.
Also, it's not relevant that the developers 'chose' to go exclusive. I'm not mad they took the deal, I'm sure the pressure's high and money can be pretty tight for a lot of devs, especially the crowd-funded lot. The argument reminds me of that "Well, it isn't illegal" line that gets thrown around when people talk about dev crunch. That's not what's being argued, and we shouldn't have to wait until someone's at literal gunpoint before we address foul business practices.
