I've been waiting for something to fill the same hole as OFF for me, hopefully it turns out well :)
Quoting: GuestDon't call this an JRPG. not only it doesn't have Japanese developers, these kind of themes aren't explored in this way by Japanese developers...because they like fun and unpretentious games. It's at least JRPG inspired: I mean the battle system UI definitely smacks of Earthbound.
Sunless Skies to get an exciting update next week, to make the Albion area more interesting

It's also got social mechanics if you have a partner or friend to play with. The missus and I have had a lot of fun doing adventures and spending way too much time adding flavorful notes to our invites :B Great if you enjoy role-playing.

Quoting: razing32I am wondering if this game is as grind-tastic as Sunless Sea.Flash no, grind kinda? You do things by expending actions points, which refresh once per 10 minutes, so if you're trying to raise a level by doing a challenge over and over, or pursuing a longer form quest it can get it bit grindy waiting for more action points. But overall I'd say avoid grinding and look for fun adventures: Significant quests often end with big stat increases. It's not something you'd play all night, but it's a great way to spend some time on your work break :)
That game had amazing atmosphere but the perma-death (you can turn it off) and the grind at the beginning was just iritating.

I'll definitely probably pick this up once I get my tax return. Though I only recently started playing Fallen London, which I highly recommend if you need an idle game, and have since gotten back into Sunless Sea; and I haven't even gotten the Zubmariner DLC yet. Failbetter Games you spoil me :P
Valve are having a rethink with Artifact, no updates due soon as they look to address the major issues

If they go F2P, or at least bring it down to, like, $5, then I'd have a go. Until then I'm still not interested. Might seem obnoxious to comment such disinterest, but I did try out Hearthstone and ended up sinking $20+, ya know?

Looks neat, but for some reason certain doors and tables are just invisible for me :U
Edit: Also, dunno if it's relevant but the keybindings were the clunky defaults instead of the ones indicated in the F1 help page.

*Insert 'hell it's about time' gif*
Seriously though, Valve seems incredibly slow and not self-aware at times. I can certainly tolerate it, especially if they do the occasional cool thing like Proton, but in terms of companies with tons of resources and zero fucks they make me think of Bethesda

A quick run over some details from the recent ProtonDB data

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoAnyway, the PROTONDB ratings system is subjective....But the definition for platinum, if you hover over the rating, is "Runs perfectly out of the box". Surely that implies that all you need to do is install and play. Not install, try to play, troubleshoot and find the appropriate launch options/proton tweaks, and then play proper.
For me a game works fine or it doesn't.
Valve's card game Artifact seems to be dying off and fairly quickly too

I would be interested to to learn who was the target demographic. I'm not, as I'm pretty meh about card games, and I won't spend $20 to find out if this one captures my interest. Hearthstone was perfect for me, free entry and earning card packs was surprisingly easy. I probably eventually spent $20 on it and felt pretty satisfied, even if I've lost interest since. Though I wouldn't drop $20 to play as entry, it's best played is shorts bursts and the game's shortcomings begin showing with time. Still fun, to be sure, but not the kind of experience I shell out cash for up front, frankly.
As I said, I'm sure something's lost between mediums, but as a game developer I find the possibilities of going digital really interesting. Like going from the tabletop role-playing games of old to the first computer RPGs; except in that example it's actually the older medium, I'd argue, that has so many more creative possibilities. But both have their strengths :)
Quoting: slaapliedjemaybe I am the odd man out, but I just don't 'get' CCG games that are digital. It's not like you can actually collect anything, it's all 1s and 0s.You certainly lose something in the transition, but what you gain in possibility space is substantial. The game can keep track of hit points, buffs, and other effects. You can have an ability with random elements, like damage a random enemy on the game board, you can even have a card transform into another that neither you nor your opponent has.

It just straight up wiped a lot of my games; I check the game folder and it's empty :C Fucking weak, man. I just turned off the beta, now I'm too scared to switch it back on.
